americanamac never was able to lyrically break down complex topics like kendrick even though he got amazingly close. they are on par technically tho
his role as a multi instrumentalist does make him more talented overall
Mac was a poet, Kendrick was a preacher. Those are wildly different skills. There are very few rappers, especially that came out in the last 15 years, who had lyrics like Mac did.

Might as well have said “Is MF Doom a better rapper than Quasimoto” or “Is Ghostface a better rapper than RZA” why yes OP, the lyrically oriented artist is better than the musically inclined one when it comes to rapping
Kendrick doesn't literally produce but I do believe he has a pretty good ear.
His thing is he doesn't just pick a beat and rap on it. He likes beat switches, background vocalists and live instrumentation, etc. And he mostly has tasteful selections in everything so it works.

i was tempted to say tier 2 to be real, but i think that would be more of his artistry than his rapping if that makes sense.
