This battle strengthened the top 5 argument but I don’t think he’s top 5 cemented yet, he has to rap more, he doesn’t have enough classic rap verses or hits yet imo

To play Devil's advocate, we really have to see how much the hype of this beef lasts for Kendrick's sake.

I remember when the LOX beat Dipset in that Verzuz battle back in 2021, everybody and their mother was suddenly a LOX fan and claiming that Jadakiss was top 5 DOA. And people were s***ting on Dipset all over too.

But, once the hype of that battle died down, Jada's GOAT status slowly declined. He's still revered as an emcee no doubt but he went from top 5 right after that Verzuz battle to hardly mentioned as a GOAT.

Of course, Kendrick has a much larger stature than Jadakiss but I bring this up because we're still in the peak of the hype of the battle where Kendrick's about to top the charts. So, it's understandable that many people want to give Kendrick GOAT status which he absolutely qualifies for.

But a part of me also feels like people are living in the moment and, as months goes by and if Kendrick doesn't drop an album this year, people will go back and forth between preferring Kendrick or preferring Drake and arguing for different GOAT's just like before.

Just had to say this to offer a more nuanced take on it.

Fan on both, I think I had Drake at 5 and Dot at 6 but yeah I flipped them bc of the beef lol

    1)Jay
    2)Nas
    3)Ye
    4)Weezy
    5)Dot
    6)Drizzy

Damn bruh, I'm surprised you had Ye over Weezy. But I respect it

Dot has reached my Top 5 again after this beef. But objectively he's Top 3.

    I mean, perfect discog

Wayne has a lot of stinkers.

Way more time to drop tho

What I also take into consideration is the meaning of the music tho
Wayne is a better technical rapper than K Dot. So is someone like Eminem. But Kendrick is the better artist with way more meaning in his music

I disagree. That was a conversation of washed up rappers and more of a retrospective on their listing. It was so small compared to this. I really think this beef is now over and we have a winner, you might be underestimating its scale and consequences. Kendrick didn't even need this because the consensus was that nobody (worthy) had ever stepped up to him so he went and stepped up to drake and spanked him. He was fine this and to me needed max 2 more albums to really penetrate that top 5, he was always the best of his class tho, a lot of takes surprising me itt

Kendrick can never make this. That’s why I don’t believe he is the goat. He can’t touch the legends
