    I feel like modern society is degrading slowly but surely.
    People are abandoning morals just for money. Companies lie steal and cheat just for profit.
    People know right from wrong but ignore that for material gain. All financial systems could crash one day money is finite.
    Love and righteousness is forever.

    Aight sorry. You're wrong that people have started to abandoning their morals for material gain, this been happening forever. It's not some kind of new thing. The idea that money is the new god is kind of funny, but now that I think about it, it's pretty interesting.

    As a human, you need food, shelter and clothing (theres probably some other s*** I forgot) and those are only attainable if you have money (with exceptions). Money can also quench any material desire.

    Belief = get your money nigga
    God = money
    saints = people who have a lot of money (the rich and famous)
    believers = people who are chasing money (workers)
    Non-believers/Sinners = people who don't chase money (unemployed)
    Sin = not chasing money
    Virtue = chasing money
    Paradise = wealth
    Hell = poverty

    Even the concept of kids being indoctrinated into the religion and being able to sin with small consequences can be seen in this religion, because school prepares kids for the workforce (getting money) and society looks down on people who earn little money (burger flippers, janitors, etc). Kids are also able to sin (not chase money) until they become adults and now their sins have consequences (poverty).

    Would be a good concept for a film or something.

    Well it depends what you're specifically referring to, if you're talking about how materialism and the pursuit of wealth is tolerated more now, that's the product of capitalism. Breaking morals (which is really just societal norms) to get money is still highly looked down upon from what I've seen.

    The bourgeoisie, wherever it has got the upper hand, has put an end to all feudal, patriarchal, idyllic relations. It has pitilessly torn asunder the motley feudal ties that bound man to his “natural superiors”, and has left remaining no other nexus between man and man than naked self-interest, than callous “cash payment”. It has drowned the most heavenly ecstasies of religious fervour, of chivalrous enthusiasm, of philistine sentimentalism, in the icy water of egotistical calculation. It has resolved personal worth into exchange value, and in place of the numberless indefeasible chartered freedoms, has set up that single, unconscionable freedom — Free Trade. In one word, for exploitation, veiled by religious and political illusions, it has substituted naked, shameless, direct, brutal exploitation.

    Tbf aside from the collapse of financial systems, most of these things have probably been around as long as money systems have.

    I do agree tho that it’s getting worse, and that in general people seem to obsess over (almost to the point of worship) a lot of different things these days, probably filling the void of religion in the sense of trying to give their lives purpose.

    Money is one example, but u got stuff like politics, celeb culture (stans) and various other things that fit this category imo
