Ikr, it's f***in strange af. I honestly believe that when Ye, Drake, Bey, Adele, Weeknd, Jay, Cole, and pretty much all the reminants from the 2000s to mid 2010s are gone.

Gold will become the new platinum and Platinum will become the new Diamond

But seriously, if you check the RIAA website only 4 albums went platinum last year. Most of them are Gold

Maybe she hasn’t applied for the certifications, I think it’s manual

    No clue tho

did they not "go platinum" or did they just not get submitted for RIAA Certification?
most new generation artists don't give a f*** about collecting a large piece of junk plaque celebrating sale numbers.

It's crazy how, even just a few years ago, it was normal for Rap and Pop acts to get singles to go 5 times Platinum or more even if they didn't hit number 1.

Now, it's much rarer. Literally not a single song on Donda or CLB has gone multi-plat. And even Billie Eilish who is supposed to be the biggest pop act rn hasn't had a Platinum or even Gold single on her last CD.

    That's crazy.

I noticed that Drake hasn't submitted it, but Doja Cat, I don't even f***ing know

And she's only 3 million followers less than Drake.

Because no one in the mainstream gives a f*** about putting a quality album together anymore, it’s that simple

Why is half this website obsessed with the idea that music is dying yet refuse to listen to anything not charting or without a co-sign

Maybe if newer acts actually gave a f*** about making good music this wouldn't be an issue.

That being said there are new acts worth checking out. Pink Siifu and Topaz Jones be making some real special music. Of course, the best way to appreciate them, especially with an album like GUMBO'! that wears its 90s and 00s southern rap influences on its sleeve, is to be a fan of older music.

I went to the music section at a store and literally saw more copies of GKMC and The Chronic on the shelf than a current rap album lol.

Siifu is dope but there’s thousands of new artists that put real effort & creativity into their music. Like an impossible amount to keep up with im an avid music head & I constantly feel behind with catching up on new releases

Crazy to think that Baby Keem was one of the few new school rappers last year to drop a high quality album.

    (P.S. I don't consider Carti new school.)
