ofc and i’m always telling musicians that tiktok is the WAY to go, if you’re worried about a fanbase and don’t want the “tiktok” audience but you tryna use the app to get attention, it’s gonna be more than impossible. i personally never minded cos i think the apps cool and i been using it for a minute, and i do think theres a way to gradually wean away from it after a while. sonically wise, i figured that uptempo stuff works best, and lyrics that are simple/tongue in cheek. i’m a fan of lily allen and love her writing style cos of how silly and vibrant it is so i try and embody a similar thing in my lyrics. other than that, i just been writing music in school since forever for my band/friends projects so i can’t tell you what works and why and how, you really just gotta attempt to nail down a SOUND for example, my beats ain’t nothing new BUT my voice is fairly distinct cos of accent/pitch. you need some kinda distinctive factor like that

from what i gather an easy ass shortcut is be funny. what pink was saying abt distinctive, the funny s*** accomplishes. always drives me nutz when im engineering a session and guys ask me to throw out their funniest bars bc they wanna be hard like thats the secret sauce as far as tiktok rap goes...

i was definitely not signed by the time my first singles were “blowing up” i think this and the other “paid” label input assumptions is sumn i’m keen on clearing up cos i fully spent a whole year trying to use tiktok for my benefit music wise only to fail many times a year before anything ended up getting traction. i simply found a formula that ended up working consistently and it is as simple as that my g and the rest is history 🤣

I wouldnt call pink funny at all, atleast from what i heard. She seems like a serious artist. im more aligned with her sonically as well. I dont think she was over here doing tik tok dances n s***

Wait i jus read it took her a year straight to gain traction. How much do u think is good to post?
