The problem is "pop music" too broad of a term. Just like every other genre there's good and bad stuff and it's stupid to try and group it all together.
new song good she's maturing
if maturing is making lifeless indie folk then ok

I hear you but this s*** is difficult bro tell me how many artists who are 22 who weren't in laurel canyon in the 70's are churning out classics.
like fr you gotta contextualize this s*** given that to her, her competition are the poster children of 50 years ago
Sounds like someone with good taste
people with good taste listen to Clairo. I'm sure some people with good taste don't listen to Clairo, but they are the exception and they would like Clairo if they listened to her
Needless to say the s*** that critics have "canonized" these past couple of years is further proof that there's no use for critics in this day and age

If you like Clairo just keep listening to her
There's no need to try and romanticize her as some champion of music lol

She doesn't need your credits don't worry
Ironic saying this on KTT but sometimes overanalysing something takes the fun out
Pop music can be whatever you want to to be but once you describe it like that you're setting yourself up for disappointment because it's not all gonna be great
A tweet that accuses people of reading too much into pop music while reading too much into Pitchfork
I promise Pitchfork in 2021 has zero influence on any normal person's opinion on anything. They're in no position to “brainwash” anyone
Another example of a twitter user trying to come across as a Cool Person, while severely misunderstanding what it is most sociable people IRL care about
This is America by Childish Gambino alone proved how much normal people love a***yzing and picking apart things.
Also, pop music pretty much by definition is "the national culture’s spirit" (at least a portion of it) — that’s how it becomes popular. We’ve seen too many big artists flop now to ever claim that it always comes down to label push/marketing...
