I don't think you get it.

"Is the most recent generation showing more recency bias"

That is recency bias lol. I know you aren't 50 years old. You've experienced likely 1 generation if that with a fully formed brain.

The argument is that there is more recency bias in the new gen, not that the new gen has recency bias. Every young music listener in their respective gen had some recency bias. I'm saying, if you were to compare the bias of the music listeners between the generations at the same age as one another (lets say age 18) I'd say the newer gen would have more recency bias on the whole than in the previous gens

It was a good title man. Thanks for that.

  • Yeah, kids were trying to label Yeezus a classic on release day

That's the best example as to why you should give an album time before you say something stupid. I remember ktt1 users were saying EVERYONE will be trying to replicate it for years to come until Kanye himself abandoned the sound on his very next LP

Thats a good take, you cant ignore the ability of people to access music compared to before when you didnt get those types of options (like I said in OP). And it is always the losing battle to argue the classics of the old and new generation cause there is absolutely a new standard because music listening is so different now compared to before. Could really just be the argument of "What makes an album a classic in 2020 compared to the old concept of a classic."

Imagine if Michael Jackson or prince fans had Apple Music and tidal to access music instead of having to listen to a big ass vinyl player of the radio

The consumption of music is soooo different and it’s so widely accessible that it undoubtedly has an impact on how we digest music.

Music is also “easier” to make now. It doesn’t take much to make a record and put it out there for millions to consume. That dilutes music in general, as it pertains to the public giving albums of today that classic label.

Music being easier to make + WAY WAY WAY easier to distribute (streaming, social media) = borderline impossible to create a classic record if we go by what we recognize as “classics”

I hate when niggas devalue the current era. Cole, champagne, dot, Tiller, Weeknd, etc they have MULTIPLE classics a piece if you apply common sense to how you look at albums and songs today. It’s impossible to replicate that “classic feeling” of yesterday. Times have changed.
