I’m not even a big fan of the album but I’m confused about the way this site discusses music. You’re so obsessed with music “aging well” that you disqualify something from being a classic if it’s a product of its time. Of course it’s a product of its time, all music is a reflection of when it was released. I don’t even know what “aging well” means exactly. Dre’s The Chronic is a product of its time, it sounds like when it came out. It’s not suddenly not a classic the more years go by where that becomes more noticeable. You guys do this with music that’s not even a decade old.
A good part of ktt got music critic/HDD sales projection brain instead of just enjoying the music for itself
Like there is some music that's more "timeless" than others, like Yeezus sounds a lot less dated than a lot of other things that came out at that time
But that doesn't mean the music that sounds more typical of that era is not good or not a classic anymore that's dumb

@RVI I been saying this s*** for a long time

It’s a symptom of a generation of Twitter/ig music listeners
2022 me would say
Astro
DBR
Birds=Rodeo
OP
I remember saying this a while back and got killed on here, how times change
I remember saying this a while back and got killed on here, how times change
Still a wack ranking
haven't listened to Rodeo in a while, but I know that when I will, I will enjoy the f*** out of it
hope them likes are worth it, when god judges you for saying "korean spicy garlic b**** you know im from the projects" is a product of it's time you ignorant f***s
sosa, thug, and biebs verses alone make this classic
the album is just fun
p***ography is good
90210 is good
maria im drunk, nightcrawlers, never catch me are amazing
rest i used to love when it came out, but now i flip flop on them tbh. could go either way.
regardless this album is great and even if it sounds like the end of tumblr era beginning of ig influencer core, doesn't change the fact it's a classic
he took his h town influences and made it into an entire world for people to explore. it's accessible, got catchy hook from trav and his guests
great variety in sound without risking cohesion
classic album cover
not perfect, but to try to say this album will be forgotten, is a damn lie
this was a year before "soundcloud" became its own niche genre, and i dont think you really get there without antidote blowing up
its important for hip hop and bridges the gap between old school and new school. same way rocky took those h town / memphis sounds / cloud rap and made it his own thing, trav did something similar, just made it feel a little bit more grand
he's probably the last ye protégée who really made a name for himself.
its not perfect, but i like it better with its flaws. him and his team really aimed for something special and delivered. no one can take that away from him, even after the astro world incident. birds and astro don't compare, they simply feel like they're trying to recreate a feeling that was much more organic during DBR and Rodeo 2014-15
Not every single song on an album is going to sound like present day 7 years later
And there’s still songs that will forever sound fresh like nightcrawler
astroworld is a good pop rap album, with good-great songs, but it's a bit too manufactured and the bars fall flat
delivery on DBR and Rodeo is what made trav special, bars weren't exactly all there, but he had an interesting flow that complimented so well with thug
his sound naturally evolved from being made for smaller venues to bigger shows, which takes a lot of effort, but rodeo was that perfect balance between that big arena anthems (3500/antidote) and them small venue turn up joints (nightcrawler)
also oh my/dis side is amazing
its a great record and anyone trying to say otherwise is just tryna make themselves look cool. sure it's been overrated by sites like our very own, but doesn't take away how great it is
DS2 better though...
took me to grow up and fall out of love to understand this but yea
takes a certain level of maturity to realize it
Not flawless but it's really good still imo
only tracks I don't f/w heavy is I Can Tell and Pray 4 Love cause the vocals are weird or too processed
C'mon y'all.. Nightcrawlers? Oh My Dis Side?? 90210??? Antidote????
I guess aging well means the album reflects your experiences going in life in the current moment or that you can “see things” you didn’t see back when you first heard the album. Which is all perspective.
For example “love me “ by Future feat. Lil Wayne has been on repeat lately for me .
The time I heard the song I was maybe
14/15
Now when I hear it , I relate to it so well . That song has aged like wine .
I’m on that good kush and alcohol
