@Synopsis I think you should kinda throw out your bone in these relatively simple issues as well, perception of elitism among the left doesn't bode well among the proletariat, who you need for your hypothetical revolution.

The SAT/ACT prep only really helps for the non math sections. the math section is math most people learn in school.

because schools like the one i went to didn't receive quality education in K-12. our teachers were of lower quality and we had the least resources to study from in the whole county. my whole stretch of high school i couldn't get above a 1.0 gpa (besides the time when i skipped school). soon as i started college i stayed well above a 3.2. for the most part it's not the students.that said i can't speak on what works for studying for the SAT/ACT because i didn't take it. just said f*** it and went to community college

when i was in middle and high school the poor people a lot of them just didnt give a f*** about school. they were interupt class, not do homework or work when we had free time to do it in class and fight etc. they just didnt want to be there. but the few poor people who did could do well.
at ur school are u telling me no one made A's? maybe u need to do some self reflecting on what u did differently.

after reading this study i am somewhat conflicted about getting rid of standardized testing entirely though
The Task Force found that of the 22,613 students guaranteed admission through the statewide index (the admissions pathway in which test scores can compensate for lower HSGPA) but not through Eligibility in the Local Context (ELC), which only considers high school grades, about 25% were members of underrepresented minority groups, and 47% were low-income or first generation students. These students would not have been guaranteed admission on the basis of their grades alone.
i do also like the portfolio solutions @sniper put out though

their finding that almost half of the students that were admitted due to their SAT scores were of low-income or first generation students. they wouldn't have got in under their GPA or grades.
if we were to repeal everything it would probably harm them. i'm less of fan of the idea of holistic admissions.

MaartinsMany countries don’t have this system at all.
I know canada is based just on your highschool average, not even all 4 yrs just the last 2. It means there’s less elitism among the top unis and even the more prestigious ones like mcgill and uoft you can still get into their general ed/humanities programs with like an 80% average.
Compare that with the US where u got all these crazy hard tests, you gotta be a volunteer for homeless people since age 14, sports teams PLUS a high gpa etc
