Jesus restores God’s original plan by defeating sin and death. In the beginning, God intended people to live with Him without death and suffering, but sin brought separation from God, suffering, and death. Jesus came to restore that broken relationship by dying for our sins and rising from the dead. His resurrection shows that death will not have the final victory. Christians believe that when Jesus returns, God will fully restore creation, removing death, suffering, pain, and sorrow forever.

The Story of Jesus Christ

Jesus Christ is the central figure of the Christian faith, and His story begins with His miraculous birth. The Bible teaches that Jesus is the Son of God who came into the world to save humanity from sin. He was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born to the virgin Mary in Bethlehem. Jesus grew up in Nazareth and, around the age of thirty, began His public ministry after being baptized by John the Baptist. He traveled throughout Galilee and Judea, teaching about the kingdom of God, calling people to repent and believe, and showing God's love and mercy. He healed the sick, gave sight to the blind, cast out demons, calmed storms, fed crowds, and even raised the dead. He taught people to love God and their neighbors, forgive others, care for the poor, and live according to God's will. Jesus also chose twelve apostles to follow Him and continue His mission. Through His words, miracles, and authority, He revealed that He was not merely a teacher but the promised Messiah and Son of God.

As Jesus' ministry continued, opposition against Him grew, particularly among some religious leaders who rejected His claims and authority. Jesus eventually traveled to Jerusalem for the Passover, knowing that His death was approaching. One of His disciples, Judas Iscariot, betrayed Him, leading to His arrest. Jesus was falsely accused, brought before Jewish and Roman authorities, mocked, beaten, and sentenced to death by crucifixion. Before His arrest, Jesus shared the Last Supper with His disciples and explained that His coming death would establish a new covenant. On the cross, Jesus willingly gave His life for the sins of humanity, fulfilling the Scriptures and providing the way for people to be forgiven and reconciled to God. He prayed for His executioners, spoke words of forgiveness and compassion, and finally died. His body was taken down from the cross and placed in a tomb, which was sealed and guarded. To His followers, it appeared that their teacher and Messiah had been defeated, but His death was actually at the heart of God's plan of salvation.

On the third day, several women came to Jesus' tomb and discovered that the stone had been rolled away and the tomb was empty. The New Testament teaches that God had raised Jesus from the dead. Jesus then appeared to His disciples and many other followers, demonstrating that He was truly alive. His resurrection became the foundation of Christian faith because it showed His victory over sin and death and confirmed that He is Lord. Jesus spent time with His followers after His resurrection, teaching them and commanding them to proclaim the Gospel to all nations. He then ascended into heaven, where Christians believe He reigns with the Father and intercedes for His people. His followers went out empowered by the Holy Spirit to proclaim that Jesus had died for sins, risen from the dead, and offers salvation to everyone who repents and believes in Him. The story of Jesus therefore does not end with the resurrection: Christians believe that He will return one day to judge evil, raise the dead, and establish the fullness of God's kingdom. The Gospel is ultimately the good news that through Jesus' life, death, resurrection, and reign, humanity can be forgiven, reconciled to God, and receive eternal life.
