I stay in Vegas and apparently a bunch of ppl from Cali are coming here to escape the high ass cost of living out there and it's making our s*** go up like crazy. I currently stay in a pretty nice 1br condo (nothing luxurious) but a fine place. Rent was 699 when i first moved in back in 2014. Over the years it's gone up to 1050, but I got a new owner now and this b**** trying to increase by 300 for a six month lease. So I'm out, trying to find something better within that range. Greedy asses.

Yeah it's some bs man. And there like ain't no cap on the s***, the owner can charge whatever they want. Nevermind being a loyal tenant that never paid rent a day late for years. Pisses me off even more cuz I havent been able to get my mail for months cuz someone "vandalized" the mailboxes and they complained it's too expensive to replace them so I gotta go to the damn post office if I want my mail. And they still trying to charge this much. It's cool imma warn the next person who comes look at my apt (if I end up moving)not to move in this b****

Like literally all of my best friends I made here 2 years ago have moved away because they can’t find any place charging less than 2k for a two bedroom, and thats if you want to live in a place that doesn’t have a window ac unit, those cost at least 1800.
It's always Californians...
no laws on rent increase is insane like landlords still find ways to circumvent it in Canada but i cant imagine my landlord just texting me being like "yea the rent is going up by $500"
u guys need a tenants union asap
but to answer your question yes it is
average 1br in my city is $2500
That's f***ing crazy and I know it's super expensive in some places but I always assumed that maybe the jobs pay more to balance it out. Like how the hell is some who works at like a walmart or Costco or something similar to that supposed to afford a place to live?
Man just thinking about that makes me sick that's hella high for a f***ing apartment man that's so ridiculous
On CL as we speak (where I found the spot I currently been for damn near a decade) trying to find a new spot. All the wack places are a bit cheaper, and if the s*** looks just a little luxurious (like stainless steel appliances or any type of interesting design apposed to the general generic layout of an apt, that s*** is about 1300 and up. And I know that ain't including all the s*** they tack on like water sewer and trash..ugh

Lol and this is essentially exactly what my slumlord actually texted
I havent even attempted to negotiate a better deal I know itll be futile but truth be told I'm ready to go anyway. Place needs some touching up and the last owner didn't do s*** and I know this one wont. I know a new place will be like new again

I always thought they lived in the stores
Sadly yes idk if I'll own a place in the next 10 years
Yeah I was thinking about trying to buy myself but forget that idk if I wanna make that commitment no more not right now at least. Dont really have a need to buy a house yet anyway when it's just me for now.

You're forced to live in public housing or income-based housing or use section-8 vouchers.
No. Live in Ohio.
I mean I guess it is, but not crazy drastic like other places in the US.
California… it went up a looot but after summer its been stable.
I doubled my salary in june so im doing okay but yea its pretty hard for a lot of ppl rn especially my friends with kids.
Yes, I'm grateful that I'm likely going to have a house to own from my parents but this situation is horrific, it's one thing to be homeless, it's another to be near poverty and working full time.
Yes and it's because people from up north keep moving down to Florida and f--king everything up.
F--k DeSantis too.
