Loved it when i saw it in the theater but just watched it and i think while the directing and writing and acting are great it kinda felt vacant of any meaning or emotional weight. The Erica Albright and Final club s*** is pretty forced and feels too slapped on to be the throughline. The stuff with eisenberg, hammer, garlfield, and the other dudes is pretty electric but the film really falls short. Tbh i might prefer gone girl as a Fincher flick. This needs a sequel tho.

Funny how Sorkin wasn’t even trying to go for 100% accuracy with the movie but still somehow came up with the best portrayal of how much Zuckerberg sucks

Something that irritates me about the movie is that Zuckerberg does suck but in a completely different way than he does in this movie. That’s why i wish for a sequel that portrays the delusional arrogance of facebook in the 15 years after its inception.

one time a movie sequel is warranted completely

But no regrets, though, the name'll echo
    Years later, none greater
Death to a coward and a traitor, that's just in my nature, yeah

    Sociopathic s*** right there goddamn

I just rewatched it and it’s really good but feel like it’s very overrated. What’s so great about it? The dialogue?

Mark Zuckerberg been on record saying he wishes they would’ve waited till he died to make a movie of him so I doubt we’ll be getting a sequel anytime soon

I mean idk. I’ve seen so many sites and writers declare it as the film of the decade and I just don’t see it

  • The Social Network is absolutely the best film of the decade and I think it really captured the spirit of the time in a way that most of the other great films from the same period didn't. It's certainly the best film about the internet ever made, and the 2010s was really where the idealistic promise of the internet as the thing that would connect us all began to crack. Perhaps 10 years on it feels a little more cliche because it's become the accepted narrative but Fincher and Sorkin really identified how our social lives are now mediated by people who are antisocial

the handmaiden, burning, parasite moonlight, the tree of life
the master , phantom thread , boyhood, first reformed, US, GET out, stranger by the lake, certain women, holy motors, django , 45 years, anomalisa

social network isn't exactly the greatest film of all time but most of these films are worst

    Beautiful film
    One of my favs

  • Apr 8, 2020

    Yup

I watch it like 1-2 times a year

Gonna make my future kids watch it on a TV like their pops did back in the day instead of having it beamed to their Brains

Feel you on that. Felt the same about the lack of emotional weight in the rewatch as well. Maybe it's because we don't see much of Eduardo and Mark friendship w/o facebook or because Timberlake Napster character (blanking rn) doesn't bring any of that as well although I enjoyed his performance (actually like timberlake as an actor). Gone Girl is unquestionably a better film. that is a masterpiece

Still really, really liked TSN but dont love it

smh I didn't see that in there. He has some good and lesser known movies on that list tho. But Us....what an abomination. 93% Rotten Tomato score tho

(the dropoff from Get Out to Us is like Gilbert Arenas before he shot the gun vs Gilbert Arenas after he shot the gun or Derrick Rose on Chi vs Derrick Rose on the Knicks)
