Let’s keep it a buck though, 40 and Doc McKinney created the Toronto sound

    No one downplaying that IMO

Lil Jon has some good songs but that one was like all the worst tropes in one go

To the window to the wall busta rhymes remix that lil Jon and Chris brown remix of thank you snap yo fingers w 40 water culo w that classic Luda era pit bull

And whatever song drake and thug flipped on WATTBAS was fire

    Drake and Thug

Michael would've liked Weeknd but I don't know how he would've felt about some of Weeknd's content. He was pretty conscious when it came to that sort of thing.

    It’s kinda impossible to discuss

    They’re a package

There would be no Weeknd without Doc and Ill

But it most likely wouldn’t have popped off without Abel

I do not give a s*** about pitchfork or any other ratings or what some bald ass melon says about music. But Frank has been overhyped as f***, especially in KTT. He has a lot of greats songs, but he lacks a lot what The Weeknd has. Frank has a lot of potential, but we rarely get to see what he has to offer. Endless was trash in most parts, but was hyped as f*** here. Blonde is deemed as a top 3 project in the 2010s but really falls apart after the 2nd part and with it's interludes that really set apart the mood. Frank also lacks longevity, dropping way too rarely.
Weeknd also has a lot of filler and forgettable songs. But has a lot more highlights starting from the OG mixtapes, Kiss Land and After Hours really sealed the deal.

Worst post on KTT2 by far

Idk about the Toronto sounds... How is that sounds specific to Toronto?
    Is drake doing that too?
How can we for sure accredit that to him solely? Did he make it (produced that sound) or did he make it a thing? (first project with that sound to pop)

Not sure if a joke but HOB dropped when RnB was doing techno and dj collabs so it could sell.
He went and stripped that sound and brought an alternative pop version of the classic RnB,changing the lyrics to fit his surroundings.
Everyone tried to do that after, nobody came close

Basically the whole Toronto sound is trilogy

You could trace the lineage like t pain brought up auto tune, Kanye used that to start making slow emotional music, drake took that to a different direction, Weeknd developed on it, and party then made it sound more mainstream which led to the wave we have today all over rnb

It kinda overlaps with the era where they started making edm beats

Way more 40 than doc if we keeping it real

In toronto rnb rn ur way more likely to hear a party/drake clone than someone on that indie sampling trilogy s***

oh yea don’t get me wrong he took plenty of influence from others to do that sound

But I think the primary influence was Trilogy/Take Care in 2011
