You'd think if The Weeknd was a legend the thread would have a consensus by now. He still got a lot more to do he almost there but we need more classic music like Trilogy
and less After Hours
After hours classic
party has never and will never sound like abel and vice versa they came coexist that “beef” has been dead for 7 years
he most definitely is a legend don't let the nerds tell u otherwise
fivi with a level head take wow we needed this
I might catch flack for this but I don’t feel like Party was influenced by The Weeknd like that.
It was moreso how The Weeknd pushed the sound and party kind of doing the same thing but way different too
“Fuck all the hugging and kissing I f*** all they b****es”
He was definitely salty at the comparisons and you don’t get salty at something unless there’s some truth to it...
Tbh you only need to listen to My Way, 8701, and confessions.
like an actual legend, hall of famer, not only to us fans, but to the people, seen as a legend for decades and decades to come? dude got his home city creating a day for him, this is more than legendary status
not yet bc his career is so young relatively but he will be.
And this is why we don’t take Weeknd stans opinions on R&B seriously
One user ≠ the entire fanbase
Aaliyah not the best comp given that weeknd sampled her on HOB but yea for sure
Ok you’re right but I was thinking about how songs like SLS, break from Toronto, and a lot of others have more obvious 90s rnb influence
It’s kinda like, party sound reminds me of downtown toronto and the fun of the city, Weeknd reminds me of like the underbelly of the same city and the deoravity
Not if you ask the producer behind Portishead
https://twitter.com/jetfury/status/1358886806264180740All 3 of his albums are top tier compared to his contemporaries, all his hits are top tier unless you weren't around for them
