To be fair him and Frank are probably the closest thing we have to MJ and Prince
But neither are even close lol
Nah fam
Kissland out now
Ehh 5 #1s off one album is pretty legendary
Maybe just didn’t have a long enough run considering how quick she fell off once she started fading
High sales mean legendary now....???
The whole career isn't legendary imo but rather iconic (for Katy)
I couldn't even accurately name the 5 number 1 songs but I can name plenty of Katy perry songs based of of
visuals and them being played everywhere at the time.
Lady gaga has more chances of becoming a legend and probably didn't have 5 number ones on one album (still plenty of hits)
Nicki minaj is in that icon boat too and only got her number 1 hit from a remix last year.
A legend imo is determined when it's all said and done, and Katy doesn't measure up to be a legend (yet and it's not looking good tbh) however she really had a great run and impacting moments making her a pop icon
We'll see if their music sticks after their prime, then we'll talk about legend this legend that (imo)
Tbh. This post hit. He really isn’t on that level is he.
He just is not an elite performer and he doesn’t have pipes
Vocally he’s MJ without the pipes he has that high falsetto and incredible control but he doesn’t have that ability to belt at the same time like MJ did
But you also gotta realize we’re in a different era
Stars in this era are not vocalists like they used to be. Listen to Weeknd’s hits - vocals are not the central piece to any of them like they used to be. The only artist who fits that Bill today is Adele
Frank is overrated as s***.
Frank isn’t doing world tours and super bowl half time shows, you’d have to be pretty “overrated” to reach that level don’t you think?
you feel like just cause pitchfork gave him a 9.5 and your favourite artists love him that he shouldn’t be held to that acclaim when he’s dropped blonde and co?
The Weeknd is not mainstream enough to be MJ or Prince legend.
Tbh there isn't any newer stars besides Drake that really will be remembered like that by the overall public. And Drake is only up there cuz he's omnipresent in the culture, unlike the Weeknd who sticks to music only.
If he can make a few more massive hits like Blinding Lights, as well as another iconic album like After Hours, I think he will be definitely be considered a legend. But MJ is untouchable imo. And Prince is as well (closest to him is Kanye).
Yes he is
Frank is overrated as s***.
the weeknd is overrated as s***
see i can do the same exact thing y'all do that's so crazy
I don’t think you’ll ever see artists that single-handedly dominate music and pop culture like James Brown, Michael and Prince did again. Everybody since then has felt like a derivation of those guys.
It’s all about that presence. Abel just doesn’t have that. I don’t think he ever will either. But maybe that’s something on how modern celebrity works. Too much visibility. These artists from the past felt almost godly.

I mean yea high sales are definitely a crucial part
Like you said it depends how those things last but idk of many legends at all who weren’t also superstar level at times
Miguel balances the artsy stuff along with making hits along with being better vocally than both of these 2. Y’all are going to stop disrespecting Miguel leaving him out.
Miguel fire, love his music
I feel like unlike Frank & Abel, Miguel was the one that kinda lost his way, something went wrong where he couldn’t reach that next level
maybe it was the leg drop? or the entire s***appeal idek
Dude about to have the biggest song of all time
Honestly. Blinding Lights will age so well
Ok so who are the closest two to MJ and Prince today
I really don’t think there is anybody close. Honestly.
