Teal you f***ing real for giving me this phrase “ je ne sais quoi” - I been trying to think of a way to encapsulate that concept for so long. I been using ethereal for years but this is better.
It's hard to put my finger on what's missing, but that was definitely what I had in mind. Maybe my standards are different because I'm older, but I honestly was rooting for that nigga since 2010 and always held him in high regard, but there's no point in pretending that he's legendary in the grand scheme of things anymore. This is our generation trying to overcompensate because we don't have that many legends to champion and he's nothing more than a big fish in a small pond.
So you don’t think there are any rn?
Nah but I don’t feel qualified to answer in all honesty. My gut feeling tells me that Gaga and Swift are approaching that legend status, as in I think that people will talk about them for years and they will be cited as inspirations by artists coming up in the next 20 years and s***.
we could have that conversation a lot more easily if OP didn’t start the thread by making stupid ass comparisons
OP is edited so I didn’t see that. statpad masterpiece tbh
Man shut the f*** up
You’re the reason everyone itt talks about “Weeknd stans” being so bad
Go listen to some more music
People might s*** on me for this but Chris Brown had like 3 years tops of being at that level
People just overrate it because he was an incredibly good performer as well
But he’s been incredibly mediocre for almost a decade now idk how you can put him discography wise near the same level as The Weeknd
Honestly is there even a standout album in his discog

aight imma agree with @safe on this one
since he noked rihanna he hasn't been the same
He had a good run tbh
Love you fam but this is the kind of hyperbolic nonsense that gets Abel discredited by outsiders. Bruno, Usher, and Chris are not no names by any means.
R Kelly
The best ever R&B imo and that also the general consensus before he got cancelled. I understand why people don't want to praise him though
Echoes of silence master race
Y'all heard /XO/Host/Initiation and still saying its not his best tape from that era
Honestly is there even a standout album in his discog
Self titled is definitely the one but that’s honestly about it

I agree
Usher confessions era is probably the most successful era by any artist since MJ
