You think he's made better albums than Chris Brown/usher Bruno in their prime?
Bruno who wrote pop hits for others and himself? + comeback with 24 karat magic album?
Usher confessions?
Chris Brown self titled?
I think it's too early to say fr
Abel destroys all 3 music wise not performance
Yes that's when I can consider him a legend, sooner or later mate
You really this dumb huh, whole r&b sound of the 2010’s was inspired by The Weeknd
Look no matter who it is you're talking about, Weeknd, Breezy, Usher, Bruno...none of them will ever be the 100% package MJ was. He was a once in a lifetime talent, larger then life. We should dead that convo permanently, no one is touching him.
But all those guys listed still have great qualities and will all probably be considered legends or even GOATS when it's all said and done. Depending on how the rest of their careers go.
No one sounds like Abel because they don’t have the vocal cords for it. They take the instrumentals but they gotta whisper over them.
I mean, anyone can come up with a tenor voice and do something
why you got beef weeknd fans bro
Cuz they annoying and ignorant as hell
When arent being hyperbolic they peddle dumbass opinions about R&B as a whole despite very clearly not listening to very much R&B at all
I just take Blinding Lights as an example for my point
I'm really waiting for an artist to come up that's been inspired by Abel, like Travis Scott got inspired by Cudi or Ye, when that happens I will consider him a legend
btw help me when I try to post a thread it says please wait a few seconds, but it's been like this a couple days
Every rnb artist post 2011 out now!
Musically as a whole I guess since that’s what the thread Seems to be asking
Is Drake a legend?
I think it depends on your metrics. I think on musical accomplishments, we can put loads of people in that bracket - Drake for sure in sales. There’s just some je ne sais quoi that the legends had that I just don’t see today. Maybe it’s nostalgia I dunno. There’s just something about MJ and Prince that transcends.

tbf most of the genuine Weeknd fans wouldn’t go near comparing him to MJ lol

Yes man IMO Bruno is a great writer but he’s never done anything forward moving musically in his career. He’s great at channeling the past but I’ve never really heard anything from Bruno that sounded new or fresh. Whereas Abel has showcased he can dip into a past bag and push the genre forward at the same time, I think that’s an extremely important thing to keep in mind.
Chris’ early work is also fantastic I’m not disputing that, probably better musically than Abel’s middle section of his discog. But past Royalty Chris’ music just never hit the same for me. The tapes, Kiss Land, and AH are better than most of what those two have put out IMO.

Usher and Chris are already certified legends but yeah
Abel destroys all 3 music wise not performance
Stop lmao. It’s s*** like this that I’m talking about lmao yall always gotta he so disrespectful to R&B legends constantly just to big up Weeknd

So you don’t think there are any rn?
Bruno is closest to mj in entertainment ... And we concluded yesterday that the weeknd isn't on Bruno's level as a an entertainer...
The weeknd isn't on Chris Brown/usher level either...
I agree tbh
Y'all say The Weeknd is the most influential in R&B in the last decade, but how come he wasn't mentioned by anyone when the King of R&B discussions were running? 80% of the top 3 I saw from R&B singers, other artists and experts were:
1. R Kelly
2. Usher
3. Chris Brown
When you have so many people jumping through hoops to discredit you, you're a legend.
Happened with Drake, happened with Kendrick, happened with Weeknd.
Nobody is close to MJ or Prince but Frank and Weeknd are the two most influental singers right now with the best output
you ask any golf fan to name legends they’ll give you loads of names, not just tiger woods. Same with nba fans and Jordan. Why are we confining if someone’s a musical legend if they are bigger than MJ? No one is, that’s redundant. We’re allowed more than 1 legend
we could have that conversation a lot more easily if OP didn’t start the thread by making stupid ass comparisons

People might s*** on me for this but Chris Brown had like 3 years tops of being at that level
People just overrate it because he was an incredibly good performer as well
But he’s been incredibly mediocre for almost a decade now idk how you can put him discography wise near the same level as The Weeknd
