I think it’s him reconciling that he made bad choices, f***ed up the relationship with the whole family and now he’s in emotional jail not being able to see her or connect with her like he’s used to

And jay z has a line about going thru similar struggles with Beyoncé

Y’all saying “metaphorical/mental jail” are the worst type of music fans I swear

He’s just saying he just got out of a break up and is in a wyling out state and might drive drunk or other reckless behavior and end up in jail, it’s about that moment in a break up where you give no f***s. Think bottle of Henny Ye saying “it’s over, f*** it, f*** everything I’m going off tonight”. Kanye is a direct artist for the most part, he’s not Kendrick and usually ain’t dealing in metaphors. I mean look at the lyrics to the song, he’s being blunt

One of the dumbest things I’ve ever read for real, you’re overthinking it. Dissect genius and hip hop Twitter ruined a lot of brains

There’s a difference between turning your brain off and not overthinking something. Kanye’s work is more straightforward than some people like to make it out to be and his straightforward writing is a strength, that y’all undermine by talking about it as though it’s some overthought conceptual s***. When really it’s just raw thoughts real feelings and is more primal than intellectual, that’s why it’s better than Kendrick but people insist on dissecting everything like it’s Kendrick. “In this song the Yeezus character is at this point in his journey” headasses

  • Aug 7, 2021

The song is literally about him being pulled over.

I think Kanye just really likes the idea of freedom
With the Larry Hoover outro and this:
AND ALL MY BROTHERS LOCKED UP ON THE YARD
YOU CAN STILL BE ANYTHING YOU WANNA BE
Goes along with the idea of being a slave
It’s a running theme at this point
Like, you can be locked up and imprisoned but they can’t take away your mental freedom

Internet dissection of music has rotted some brains for real. Every album is a metaphorical hero’s journey, we digging deep before even appreciating the main surface ideas

It seems the very best detectives of KTT are divided about whether it is a metaphoric jail, or a physical jail, or completely meaningless
