17 a future classic, Op can’t admit it
The project isn‘t really outstanding or genius but I think his influence will be huge (he already got some children) + the mainstream music media will praise him in the future. And every hobby music critic will act like they liked his music before (Chief Keef & Young Thug effect)

honestly w how highly publicized his scandals were and how much more exposed the internet is now i dont see him being remembered all the well to the mainstream music media.
he'll be remembered as the first to take Bones style and take it to the mainstream and the Ronny J clipping bass instrumentals but thats about it

It's still dissapointing to me how X abandoned his original sound once he got mainstream. Even though alot of those early tracks were poorly mixed snippets and remixes they were by far the best tracks that he made. Rip Roach, Witdemdicks, X****, Yung bratz, Suicide Pit were cutting edge as hell for that era and I still revisit them now. If X had stuck with that sound, expanded on it and worked with better producer's no doubt in my mind that he would have made great material.

Bones created the whole punk rap wave ngl but I think X adapted that sound very well. One positive aspect about X‘s music was that it was diverse. (If you like him or not you gotta admit that) - maybe he empowered some new age rappers to try different genres and be unique in a way. I mean Kanye didn‘t show him love for no reason

yea the fanbase he cultivated was strong and loyal enough to follow him to any sound he chose to pursue and i agree that he could have made completely singular and novel music if he took the eclectic trap and electronic hardcore sound and pushed it further.
everything u said i feel hard as f*** cuz if he got access to better more intricately designed production his critical success would have been completely different
i feel like he moved to the mellow 17 sound as a reactionary move against his public perception in order to prove to people that he wasn't who they thought he was.
he was too sensitive to his public perception and it was his biggest failure imo

The poor mix and short time of his old songs gave me a rare but unique vibe

"he was too sensitive to his public perception" sad but true

yea to this day he's the only artist to improve on the OG Bones sound. (edit except peep ig)
it's just a shame that he never got the time to learn to build out his songs better and never got the access to the type of producers that would have complemented him like he should have.
pr much i feel like he never got the chance to show people what he was made of while all the public got to know about him was that he should be forgotten

That whole soundcloud era is just wasted potential to me. Artists would get on with cutting edge, unique sounds and would totally abandon them for mainstream appeal. S*** happened to X with his hardcore trap sound, s*** happened to Lil Uzi when he never followed up on the hip-hop/ pop punk fusion, Yachty stopped making cutesy punk trap and tried to become the 4th migo, hell even lil pump was kind of interesting at first but now he's just an ig comedian. Only rapper that full on committed to their sound and did it well was playboi carti with Die Lit. S***'s hard out here for underground fan's , could have easily gone down as a classic era but there were so little good albums to come out of it.
Remember when zoomers were trying to say he was going to be remembered as the next 2pac after he died

facts
the saddest part is that the only influence those artists have had are the watered-down bland indistinguishable versions of each artist meaning all these new artists sound like s***ty copies of the s***tiest version of each of these artists
this was fire when it dropped too that energy there is really agressive and still naive its impressive
this s*** is classic idc
