Kanye is the backbone of The Blueprint, the album would have been another decent offering without the exceptional contribution by Kanye

still at the end of the day hov wrote the s*** and it still would have ended up being a classic no matter the producer

let's be honest, jayz was only relevant in the 2000s because of Kanye and Rihanna, so he can't be better than ye

In terms of hits, Ye, Rih and Bey definitely kept Jay relevant.

I would say that he didnt need them very much if at all before Blueprint 3 era though.

He could've survived the 2000s without them but they definitely (Ye and Bey) kept him relevant for a good amount of the 2010s imo

If we talking just rap and not artistry/discog I'd say Big was a better rapper than Hov

    Artist probably, rapper imo no

Im prolly the most critical of Jay Z on this site but we have to be real, Hov would've been fine without Ye in the early to mid 2000s.

He already had a classic before Ye (RD), and he had Pharell, Timbo, Just, Swizz Beatz, Dr. Dre, and so many other producers he could've hit up for a beat in that era.

Ye definitely made some of Hov and Roc a Fella's best beats, but Jay Z can adapt better than just about any other rapper of his type (traditional lyric-based rappers).

Kanye was not just any producer

Plus vol1-vol3 and dynasty were not the greatest albums either
