nope, the person listening to music is not wasting the other persons time by listening to music, notice how you used the word interrupt too

stop focusing so much on whether its rude or not and just realize if they kept putting their headphones back on, they didnt really care to engage in whatever conversation you were trying to have

not confusing but yes its annoying if they wanted to talk to u they wouldve kept their headphones off

if what you need to tell them is important enough to you, then ask them to listen to you/let them finish when they take their headphones off

if it isn't important, then since they clearly want to be listening to something else, don't bother continuing the conversation

I mean I leave headphones on and talk to people sometimes, obviously the volume isn't loud so I can conversate

If someone is doing something important and you're aware and interrupting them then it would be rude in that situation

If someone is just listening to music or something then they are only being rude if what you're saying is important I'd say

like I guess hypothetically the conversation could be about anything (not something important just a conversation you are trying to have for fun), the person with the headphones is just listening to music, and both of them know each other well
