let me start by saying that its clear these two guys are probably the most important rappers in recent memory. you need look no further than some of the most popular artists out and hear how they are clearly influenced by both of them.

but i was listening to Future’s new project and I can’t help but feel like he’s been on autopilot for the last couple of years. how many projects that sound like this album or his last album does he need to drop before you feel like you’ve heard all there is to hear from him?

then you have Thug. a big meme throughout Thug’s career was that his s*** never did numbers and his projects were retroactively called a mixtape or an EP or whatever. but now that he’s two albums deep i cant help but feel like whats coming out is not a patch on what he was dropping in 15-17. SS3 and Jeffery both did less than 40k fw but they were both amazing releases in my opinion.

call me washed if you want, but these are two of my most listened to artists ever and i think its kinda weird that im not that excited to hear what these guys are dropping anymore. im interested to hear what you think?

I agree with this post. Future and Thug are not in their primes anymore but that doesn't mean they still aren't making music thats good. Not everything is so black and white.

    Facts

Thug's recent output is kinda disappointing though. Not just because it's not as exciting as before, it's just really not that good

Future, on other hand, keeps providing some hard ass s***

i like this new future album, its a lot better than HOL in my opinion, but still nowhere near his best work.

but yeah that Thug album was really bad, there are some songs on there that sounded way too much like they were desperately fishing for a hit.

thug been on autopilot worse than fewtch tbh, he could've kept SL2 and Punk in the vault and I wouldn't have been upset

Future on some LeBron s*** rn. If you ask me he’s better than he’s been since the 2015 mixtape run but he been doin it so long, we too used to him.

Thug tho, he mighta fell off creativity wise ngl.

I mean they haven't rly been in their primes for a couple of years now lol

  • Apr 30, 2022

Punk was a good album, just too long.

Future will never fall off, period.

  • The Future / Thug era ends when kids move on from the sound they pioneered, which has not happened yet and there seems to be 0 effort or desire to succeed it. This is probably the longest stretch in rap's history where the sound has not drastically changed or evolved, but it's playing in their favor because everything they fathered is still hot.

I don't see either of them adapting to a new musical zeitgeist, just like DJ Premier ain't switching up and making trap beats or something. They just gonna do whatever they want to do, even when the mainstream sound switches up.

    Literally no

  • Apr 30, 2022

Yeat took the crown. Their legacy lives on.

  • Apr 30, 2022

They’re both way past their peaks but I liked both INLY and PUNK so

  • Apr 30, 2022

They are OGs and not in their prime anymore but both still make really good muisc.

They just put out more music than a lot of people do while in their primes so it’s a lot to live up to. Also their main completion are people who use the sound they birthed.

Thug been in his CEO phase tho.that’s why He got one of the hottest rappers out signed to him
