What is your argument here? That it is a good thing because hip hop is based on it?

Need someone to define "give credit"

Because this isn't the first time I've seen where an artist/producer will clear a sample, and then random ass people will complain that they didn't give credit. That's literally the point of paying for the sample in the first place.

generalising - sampling isn’t all lazy my guy although there are examples you could find which are

i find truly good sampling to be as inspired as an original production

    Yes it is.

Kanye once said this. He said hip hop producers have to step away from sampling because it is getting lazy.

This is actually a good example of f***ing over the little guy. Hip hop producers find unknown songs from much smaller artists, pay them to use the work and take credit. Believe me these hip hop producers are taking credit whether it be directly or indirectly.

Nobody reading credits. You have to go out of your way to do that, and everybody knows this.

S*** happens in every industry tbh & even today most producers have been using loops sent to them by composers that is the backbone of the songs without much or any credit & compensation

To be clear: f*** Kanye. I don't like the guy.

He did stop using samples so much around about 08. Perhaps he started back up. I don't listen to his new music.

I remember being young and uneducated and vilifying sampling

And then I realized that there is a significant difference in vibes that these two songs give off despite using similar instrumental portions in their respective songs

That’s the point of sampling imo

You keep saying that they arent giving credit, but you aren't explaining how they should properly give credit.

If crediting the artist and compensating them financially isn't giving credit then what is?

So, just having an ear for making it work is all the producer is meant to do as long as they get clearance

By not doing it. By creating their own music instead of relying on the music of others. Hip hop producers cannot do that though.

There is no way for a big artist to sample a smaller artist and not take credit for it all.

My bad, I guess he didn't. I don't listen to his new stuff.

He certainly slowed down with 808s and MBDTF compared to his earlier work.

Mbdtf is covered in samples. They’re just not done in a “lazy” way
