Had the potential to be better but also kanyes parts weren’t there for me except on reborn but still didn’t fully hit it for me but his best verse since yeezus tho imo. Kanyes vocal performances are a big reason why he’s not doing as well too it seems like he lost the energy he once had. I really felt that on fire because the flow he had was super good but the performance really lacked and also the lyrics too imo. It would’ve been better if he had the same energy of performance that he had on hold my liquor and keep the flow he already had on fire but just change the lyrics to something more grabbing and easily discernible. Another thing is not sure if it’s the recording or whoever is mixing his vocals but that also has a big effect in it all too. It sounds like he just recorded it out in an open room which can definitely have the results done well if done properly but it sounds like he’s at a distance from the microphone which if the performance isn’t strong enough can give a feeling of lack of energy especially when you can feel like you’re trying to make your voice carry over to the microphone so if he just got a lot closer to the mic it would help a lot and then mixing the vocals correctly too because there’s just not enough. It’s not that it’s not loud enough but it seems like he was a little far and then the volume was brought up to fix it. It really feels weird in this project because cudis vocals are perfect but kanye is the only vocals that sound like that and it doesn’t give a consistent sound through the track. Performance is worth everything even if hes using an expensive mic because people like steve lacy record directly into his phone and it sounds great. The only beats that i really like are Fire, Reborn (the kick couldve been done better it feels a little weird but thats really it), and cudi montage i really f*** with the sample but those drums could have been so much better. The other beats i wasn’t much of a fan of. Fantano gave this a 10 and MBDTF a 6 tho i cant get over either.

It was alright. Less than average than any of his previous stuff tbh

Edit: i like the part that he recorded previously because the track was an old track and he kept that part but the new part he recorded i don’t really like to much. Also Kendricks part sounds like they ripped the verse from another song and just planted it on there and didn’t use the original take and i think they might’ve done that tbh if they didn’t have the original take.

i mean i have to respect ur opinion but i feel like his verses on cudi montage and reborn are better than any of his verses since MBDTF, his performance fit the subjects and the beats are fire

To me i agree in terms of lyrical content but not quality. His yeezus verses weren’t anything of anything amazing in terms of what he was saying but the feeling to me is better and just better done as a whole. The performance wasn’t in just in terms of the energy he was giving off not that he had to be loud or excited in terms of energy but a good vocal performance is just like an actor giving a good performance and to be his performances were amazing before but TLOP era and beyond it went down for me and gave me a feeling like if an actor gave a bad take or had to act with a script that wasn’t well written.
