look his music is fine for the most part but I think me and a lot of people grew out of his s*** years and years ago. I just don't see an uber talented artist like a lot of his newer fans portray him as

Yeah completely agree. I just dont understand how anyone that's been a Travis fan since 2013 or before has stuck around without getting so bored of his s*** lol. He's had 0 sonic development, if anything he's regressed creatively and sonically

This conversation isn’t about quality and substance though, it’s about who and why these artists have the least clones. I offered my take on why these three artists have the least clones but are still so successful, and why those three artists have the most clones who are very successful, so much so that they’ve literally been surpassed by their own clones at one point.

It sounds like you just don’t like his music as much as theirs and thats fine but that’s not what we’re talking about

I think he was making a similar point as I was,, saying theyre not unique enough or have enough substance to widely inspire people to use the sound

well it actually has everything to do with quality and substance. Someone with higher quality and personal substance to their music makes it much harder to replicate.
And of course I don't like his music as much as theirs but that has nothing to do with my opinion pertaining to this.

Nooo. Yeah it's technically the same concept of bringing a bunch of talented people together to work on your project, but Kanye albums have all these people together bringing their true artistry to the table. With Travis, they're trying to make mainstream, radio friendly hits (talking about Astroworld here), and the result is a majority of the songs sounding very very similar

I mean if you think Travis inviting Kevin Parker, Wondagurl, Allen Ritter, and Stevie Wonder to Hawaii to work on different songs resulted in songs that sounded the same I can do nothing but respect your opinion lmao

Exactly. The magic of what he does and what he brings to the table kinda dies down over the years especially when he stays so static as an artist and just goes to the route of what is the most popular thing to do.

who cares who worked on the songs when we can literally listen to the results and most are luke warm at best. And the parts that aren't are usually due to the contributing artist.

It's not about who worked on it though, it's about what they were trying to make (like i said). Clearly each of those people can be super unique, creative, are undeniably very "real artists," etc.. BUT, if their focus is making radio hits, the outcome is gonna sound way way way different than if theyre trying to just make pure art

he ain’t at all. all the s*** he does has been done before and better by kanye, cudi, future, thug and a lot of other artists. only person he’s influenced is quavo at this point and i wish he didn’t cos quavo sucks now

towards who though? We're not talking about the average joe on soundcloud who tries to make dark atmospheric music with auto tune we're talking about actual artist that is inspired by something that he's created and not from someone before him. All the tropes he does has been done before

That’s cool but if you genuinely mean to convince people that a song with a Stevie f***ing Wonder harmonica solo immediately followed by a Juice WRLD chorus/Travis verse over Wondagurl drums, followed by a song produced by Kevin Parker and Pharrell are similar, I can only respect your opinion.

But would I be wrong to write you off as a hating ass nigga deluded by bitterness for the artist we’re discussing right now?

Bro what the hell are you talking about being similar lmao? what does a song sounding different have to do with anything about him being influential? It's clear you're a fan of the guy idk if you're younger or not but maybe you should try to be objective. You're clearly bias just naming off other artists like it does s*** to prove your point.

Would I be wrong to write you off as a delusional d*** riding fan who drools at anything he does?

Because if you read the conversation that me and OP were having he said the process of Astroworld resulted in a project full of songs that sounded similar. I don’t know if you saw the name Travis and blacked out before you replied to me but that’s what I’m talking about

Okay so you heard the TI spoken word intro but tried to coast over it

Let’s rewind, stop all the assuming and stick to the facts. Does P***ography have a TI intro, and does ASAP Forever have a TI intro?
