I just came to the conclusion that it is the worse version of In My Mind

Why? Because he didn’t stick to his production style on that one it just sounded like a good album that you’ve already heard before many times so it got old quick.

While one of the few tracks where I felt he did something new, RISE! is the only song i still bump off it.

Also, on a side note, that fact that he’s 30 now and rappin about a 19 y/o got me lookin like

hasnt materialism always been part of Tyler's narrative? imo he's always been open about being materialist to compensate for loneliness/ lack of affection

Not surprised no one mention niggas from dipset. Especially Jim Jones . Hell all of the niggas from nyc had more “materialistic” raps than Tyler’s album. And I mention Rick Ross as well

And if y’all niggas had two brain cells rubbing together you would know that this is the concept for Tyler’s album, along with the dj drama tag, it was thought out and IMO executed perfectly.

But yeah let’s hate on Tyler and keep calling him a Pharrell clone and corny for doing what he’s doing.

    Like do your f***ing research

There’s a thin between paying homage and straight up jacking. What Tyler did was a straight up jack move. I don’t care if Tyler’s been labeled as his protege either.

Tell me how he isn’t copying Pharrell

I don’t consider being influenced by a artist at a young age copying.

At the end of the day Tyler learned how to play the piano by hisself , learned production by hisself , learned to rap by hisself.

It’s a shame people put artists and specifically pertaining to this topic , Tyler in a box and don’t consider him being his own artist. Be ktt tends to compare and wrongly compare at that.

I don’t think I’ve seen threads of people saying The Weeknd is a copy of Michael Jackson . It’s literally dumb to say these things.

Artists are influenced by other artists. They wouldn’t have gotten into this music s*** if they weren’t influenced by someone . Tyler created his own sound and no one cannot change my view on that. Tyler just sounds like Tyler to me. He’s his own artist. And it’s not like Pharrell was Tyler’s only influence.

Nah he copying bro, especially this era. Even down to the interviews when Tyler is talking his s***, it was in the same manner Skateboard P was. Him learning how to play instruments on his own doesn’t mean anything regarding the topic.

That’s because people can see that Weeknd is not trying to copy MJ

One of Pharrells biggest influence was Steely Dan, when you listen to Steely Dan you hear how Pharrell was influenced. However its never a since of copying.

I’m just using your logic to understand why you think Tyler is copying. Those examples doesn’t seem like he’s copying. And I consider his interview to have the same bravado as a couple ye interviews

By using your logic The Weeknd would be copying more than Tyler has.

You can clearly hear influence of Pharrell but the output of it is clearly something fresh that Tyler has created by hisself. It’s very clear to see.

Like I’d literally would throw on flower boy besides seeing sounds cause I like the feel of the songs on there more
and I can also argue that it’s even more cohesive than seeing sounds.

None of his songs sounds like carbon copies.

Tyler is 100% inspired by and borrows from Pharrell and the Neptunes a lot. He says I want to make this beat sound like ___ by the Neptunes all the time. Lmao. I have no idea why this is considered bad or breaking news tho. Literally he’s been telling everyone that for 12 years now. And I hate to burst everyone’s bubble but a lot of great musicians repurpose things they’re inspired by. Pharrell is inspired by Q-Tip a lot. Doesn’t take away from his own lane.
