Edit: My bad. Completely forgot you were talking about 4Batz

Yea it's possible he might become another RealestK but 4Batz clearly has the better support team and cosigns to boot for him to fade away but we'll see tho

Usher hasn’t had a hit in years either though. Chris was everywhere back in the day and he still has a strong fandom now. whether one likes him or not, he def counts as an rnb superstar

true but confessions will forever be in the rnb rushmore cb prob more popular rnb/pop/trap/casuals but for rnb lovers usher prob better respected across the board

When I think "Superstar" I think somebody who is leading the industry; or leading their genre as a whole.

The full package of being a household name with not only their public image; but having hit songs, and albums, that are household know records; and having massive influence.

Chris Brown was definitely on his way pre 'incedent'. But even then I would say he was more of "Teen Sensation" with promise of growing into a full on superstar..

I wouldn't say he was a superstar in the same light as an Usher, Prince or MJ.

Post incident, CB has had plenty of hit songs, and singles. But I don't think he ever hit a level of "Chris Brown is leading the world of R&B"

But I don't think he ever hit a level of "Chris Brown is leading the world of R&B" - FACTS great explanation

R Kelly and Trey songz aren’t to be compared
Trey had his time, it was when Frank came in 2011 the shift began

Trey songz helped make Drake famous and shaped Drake’s style

I mean. He has a couple hits every few years. But I don't think he ever hit "Superstar" status again since the 'incedent'.

And even then idk if I'd call him a full on superstar yet. He was on his way there, but I think he was way too early in his career at that point. He didn't really have a Confessions era like Usher did.

2005-2008 CB was hits on hits on hits. He came very close to Confessions.

This is what article states about Chris Brown and Weeknd btw:

None can match Usher for hits or for classics or for oomph. Bruno Mars and Justin Bieber are pop stars cosplaying R&B (though the former is a distinguished, if lesser, performer), and have no real claim. The ship has sailed for Chris Brown. The Weeknd is trying — definitely successful enough, and maybe even talented enough, but look no further than his own Super Bowl halftime show to really get a sense of the distance between him and Usher.

They’re trying too hard with the chris brown thing

he could definitely pull off a Super Bowl set of hits since 2005 lol, the controversy just wouldn’t be worth it

They’re phrasing it like he’s washed lol a new chris brown record Probably does the same as an usher record rn without this Super Bowl promo

And there will never be another chris brown usher Bobby brown mj type because dancing would get meme’d if a new artist did it unless they were completely in their own world and lane

Someone like Uzi if he just made R&B lol. But Uzi eccentricities only work bc he has a “fit in” uniform he can switch to with the street s***

you may prefer Usher (i do too) but cmon now… CB has over a decade worth of rnb hits

maintaining that kind of longevity is not easy. i would put him in this category

Chris Brown is the biggest out of his class, but his class also was the beginning of the lowering of the bar within R&B

But its not about being biased bro I witnessed CB’s rise from Yo, I remember the video release, and the ceiling that was put on him due to his multiple shortcomings (not just the rih s***)

That ceiling effects ALOT bro. Especially reach (which as we know is a big aspect of being a superstar)

That’s why the difference between a Usher and a CB is bigger than us “savants” on a music nerd site think. Some songs by CB that WE think are gonna ring off everywhere? Not gonna have the same effect everywhere the same way a Usher will. That hypothetical Verzuz (By and judged by real people that actually be outside, not the same 9-10 ppl on ktt that keep spamming they “ktt verzuz” s*** in every goddamn thread.) gets real ugly after 8 songs in

P.S. And quite frankly way too many ppl itt name dropped Trey Songz (who couldnt even really sing frfr) as another one which makes me HIGHLY question a lot of niggas taste on R&B in the 1st place lol.

jd also wanted to mentor he was like alot of his classic songs from his 1st two albums writers (johnta austin, james fauntleroy, sean garrett) don't write for him anymore n i feel him writing everything himself without the help from great acclaimed rnb writers restricts his work ( i know he has writers but they are not the level he had on self titled n exclusive)

    !!!!!!

Like the nigga was 34th in the world on YouTube. Look at some of the artists he's ahead of https://kworb.net/youtube/archive.html

Also he's 46th in the world in Spotify. And I'm shocked to see for that Usher is 61st and MICHAEL JACKSON is 81st

Chris Brown definitely reached global R&B superstar level. I don't know how people can deny it. Just because he's a s***ty person doesn't mean he wasn't a superstar lol

Because youtube and Spotify ratings are the be all to end all to judge an artist’s relevance.

Also GREAT list here. Good to know NBA Youngboy is bigger than Billie Eilish

Man even if you put this. This doesn't mean s*** to me, because he could've been bigger and way better artist. This is just a result of him staying upon the trends and having a strong fanbase.

Usher had his era, but by the time he came back in 08 with Here I Stand after 4 years. It was clear that the R&B game moved on without him.

And during this time, Chris really needed a mentor and producer that would've cultivate his vision. And he didn't get one.

That's why people don't look at Chris the same way they look at Usher.

    I say this many times....

    MJ had Quincy and Teddy
    JT had Neptunes and Timbo
    Usher had JD and Bryan

    Who did Chris have????

    Tyga??? Kevin McCall????

    Nigga please

It's hilarious because Prince wanted to mentor, but he chose to not take his mentorship.

how u say no to prince PRINCE?! he really is a dumbass

i mean ppl forget he also made life hell for that Karreuche girl, was in the headlines for always being in a goddamn fight, and other legal trouble that kept him from performing some places sometimes so shoutout to that (suspicious nose sniff) temper. also the whole turning down mentorship thing is sus as hell.

Like i mentioned multiple times itt he was definitely set to be the next r&b superstar (i mentioned the gum commercial for a reason) but bro got in his own way dawg.

Oh musically, I definitely think even though he can sing (AMAZINGLY btw), a lot of his peers took the wrong influence from him (I call it the “nigga singing like they bout to s***” syndrome) that every nigga that was coming up after him was trying to do.

Him being the poster child for quantity over quality with these (suspicious nose sniff) 40 track albums have all but played a big part in some folks just…not even tryna hear all that. I wouldnt wanna hear a 40+ track album from anybody dawg lmao.

And the writing has like others noted taken a nosedive. He definitely one of the 1st big singers that wanted to swag as a rapper. Which is funny cause my fav song on slime&B is a thugger/future duet song.
