Let's be honest, the beat is way too simplistic from a producer as qualified as Ye with mostly repetitive piano and drums. Plus it sounds so rushed and I could probably find better production by typing "free rap beat" into YT, vocals may be good but does Kanye have a track with a worse beat?

The beat isn’t bad because it’s simplistic. Hands On beat is simplistic asf but it works because it matches the tone of the song. This is bad because it doesn’t have a reason to be simplistic

On a 7 song album this track has no business being this underproduced

I don’t think there’s anything bad about it necessarily. No mistakes is way worse lmao

The beat goes perfect with the vocals
    The layered Jeremih/Party/Ty$ vocals

    Man what lmao
There's a decent amount going on in that beat, it's just sparse and minimalist
Like the rest of ye it leaves a lot of space for the vocals to breathe

ye is probably his least "impressive" in terms of production because it's not super bold or in your face, but it has some of his most beautiful sounding moments too

I listened to the album again a few days ago and man. This doesn't even sound like a Kanye album to me. Being completely honest. I can't explain the aesthetic because I feel like there isn't one

Minimal and pretty beats, heavy emphasis on soulful vocals and quick vocal chop samples
Kanye's rap vocals cut through as harsher

What are some of the “beautiful moments” on Ye for you? Curious to read your thoughts

    Party/Jeremih/Ty$ vocals on Wouldn't Leave
Charlie Wilson/Caroline Shaw vocals on No Mistakes
Intro sample on Ghost Town, Ye's delivery of "Talk like I drank all the wine"
Violent Crimes Shake and Ty$ vocals and the chords

All the beats from Wouldn't Leave to Violent Crimes are super pretty sounding

  • Mar 25, 2020

Wouldn’t Leave is like my favorite song from Ye

I love the George Jetson/Jefferson line

    Facts OG

And the melodies on Wouldn’t Leave are beautiful, you played yourself OP

    doot doot

Wasn’t it made in 2 weeks?

It all came together in 2 weeks after he scrapped the music he was previously working on, but the music wasn't all made from scratch in 2 weeks considering some ideas had existed in 2017
The final lyrics (like a lot of Ye albums) did come together in the final 2 weeks, but he was probably coming up with them in his head for a while too
