how tf did we go from lucien being his daddy and him having the greatest deal of all time taking cuts out of everyone's pie (according to drake stans) around when PUSH UPS dropped to this bs?
yeah i don’t like the narratives flipping. idk why we can’t accept drake lost a beef and his latest album isn’t as good as one from 10 years ago it doesn’t make his career any worse or change that he’s one of the greatest to do this nobody’s infallible
Wonder how drake stans feel about this narrative/cope. On one hand it explains away all the flops, but on the other to roll with it they d have to acknowledge its been a bunch of mid
Ps if this was really going on drake wouldn't be writing books on Instagram to joe budden after his mid gets trashed
Ish loves Drake like he loves Jay. He dislikes Kendrick like he dislikes Nas.
everybody on that pod is a drake fan

“Explains away all the flops”
Lmao dude mentioned FATD and that album wasn’t even a flop

I'm talking about the post beef music. I already disqualified fatd due to drakes Instagram meltdown to joe for bashing it
"doing an uzi" is hilarious. Uzi just doesn't make good music anymore and Drake doesn't either. He literally told ya'll on FATD Scary Hours.

Even then, most of his post beef records were not uploaded to dsps immediately.
If he was to “pull an uzi” he would’ve put out a project on streaming services to “get out of his deal”
People have been calling his output mid ever since Views, and “intentionally” dropping bad music to “get one over” on your label so they have to pay you more in the future is one of the dumbest things I’ve ever heard ever.
What people always fail to overlook with the whole Endless/Def Jam situation was that Endless was actually a very high quality record, and that’s how he was able to dupe them. It’s not like he turned in an hour of fart sounds and they released it as part of the deal
Prince did that and Michael Jackson even publicly said that he gave Sony bullshit to drop to fulfill the contract. I do not think this is what Drake did. He just isn't making great music anymore. He needs to listen to 40 who keeps telling him to make a concise 12 song album. The fact Drake publicly confirmed that 40 has been saying that to him every single album era since NWTS makes all the sense in the world now. Drake is the problem. Doesn't know what is good or isn't anymore.

@op u better than this creating a thread based on what a Joe Budden podcast member gotta say

scary hours 3 was great upset it got swept under the rug

I was actually legit curious what yall thought
sometimes you gotta intentionally make some mid in the midst of a streak of fire threads :smug2:

I personally agree the mid streak started around here too but for discussion sakes f\*\*\* it
I think a general consensus is that CLB onwards is where most fans would feel s*** started to feel middy.
Do I think this may be a point PERSONALLY? It depends I’m on the fence about it. I do find it funny that Jhonni Blaze text that got leaked where in it Drake called his recent tour a slave tour and it made me wonder if that was why the performances was so bad.
Yeah for the sake of discussion even if you want to say the pre-covid albums are all good, I think a lot of what you can say about FATD (length, redundancy, lack of cohesion, chasing new gen, immature subject matter), its all there on Scorpion. His natural ability has declined, the subject matter has only gotten more tired over 6 years and hes taking influence a genre thats much worse now than it was pre-covid. The choices that he was making to get him there in 2018 are now hurting him in 2024 imo.
If hes been purposefully handing in mid since 2020, what does the non mid look like exactly?
Is the theory that hes gonna change his whole approach and become a different artist? Or that hes gonna keep making the same choices but the quality will just be good? Im not really buying either
Timestamped dont worry fam (1:26:35)
!https://youtu.be/gK81dUtyQNM?si=_K-_WZvgedeOVdI8They had the conversation about what drake is tryna accomplish with these petitions (e.g. Getting equity) and during the convo they started discussing if these talks are part of why Drake has been on a streak of mid (in their words since CLB, when umg made stocks public in order to prove a point to the company)
Ish says he heard FATD was a “fuck you” from the music all the way to the cover art (“oh yeah, my son did that.”)
What yall think? Copium and major cappadona or do they have a point?
Not even a hate thread, cause all jokes aside if what larry says about drake’s catalog is true….yeah Drake prolly deserves some equity
I felt like he was rushing FATD a fast release from CLB, but the songs are good.
Didn’t Drake say in a FATD release interview there was a label problem?
Considering CLB, Her Loss, and FATD aren’t mid, imma say cap
He was puttin out a lot of tapes in short time, it makes sense, let’s stop using Uzi tho he’s trash

Her loss is a vibe. The other ones are straight mid
