Artists also do not get paid every two weeks or week like a regular job... It's more like twice a year. How else do these people think they get by. Especially those that can consistently do shows.

This is why labels are dying and can't break any new artists. We got old ass people like this running things with outdated ass methods to grow an artist

this is why I have an issue with ppl bashing labels so much. like yeah in certain instances there's bullshit involved & bad contracts, but how the f*** else is this nondescript rapper from the hood gonna get the money to pop off?

being an industry slave is almost the only way people will care

The label doesn’t pick up artists, u have to pay regardless, u have to Damn near make it already inorder 4 the label to see u, they only bandwagon and amplify

You could be a better singer than Aretha Franklin + better rapper than Biggie + better songwriter than John Lennon, all combined, with lots of music out and the label still won’t sign you without fans and connections.

countless artists broke out with just a mic and good branding. Like Travis... unless they’re talking mainstream mainstream.

I mean it's like, unless you have a high 6 figure job or someone sponsoring you, the only real way to make it is by robbing and thuggin s*** out or get enough of a local buzz to get a record label behind you to cover the cost.

But even that's expensive because you have to pay them back.

The idea that s*** is organic is such a farce. EVERYTHING cost. EVERYTHING you see from a rap act cost.

yeah but part of it is also just buying fake s*** or renting half the s*** you show off too

That isn't free either and depending on what you're buying that's fake or renting, that too can be 40K+

All relative to the results that you're trying to get out of this
