He dropped one of his greatest singles with LNCL and one of his dopest videos along with it during the summer of 2020 and just dipped afterwards, announced the album for january 2021 but abandoned that plan early into the year to make us wait till september when he just mysteriously announced CLBs release. A week later the album was there and with the album he also dropped a music video to Way 2 Sexy which is arguably THE banger of this album. But thats it.
I remember back in october 2020 when this picture was posted to instagram by him

i was head over heels with this look, thinking to myself "holy s*** hes shooting the video for the first single and prepares the perfect rollout to drop during the summer/early fall, maybe this is even for not around.". But NOTHING happened. He hyped up the oh so different from the leak version of not around just to put another beat switch on it. He took out the best part of sound 42/need me to add a boring jay z verse. But even though he made those mistakes, the album still came out amazing and has some of his best songs ever on there. Champagne poetry might be his best intro even tho that first beat is basically snatched from masego which annoys me cause it showcases once again how drake doesnt feel the need to get all too innovative with this s***. N 2 deep is also one of those masterpieces on CLB, might be top 3 drake. I could praise more than half of the album right now but i wont cause thats not the point of this thread.
He doesnt do s*** for these songs. I need him to get out there and talk abt this s***, tell us the stories behind these songs and your thought process. I want all the inside scoop abt the workflow during the CLB sessions. Give us lil clips from the studio, get on radio shows, get on yt shows, get on podcasts... and most of all RELEASE MUSIC VIDEOS!!!! LNCL was a MOMENT and the visuals are just insane, where was this energy for CLB deadass its confusing me so hard that im starting to get a headache while typing this up.
And for every super mega braindead stan: Dont even start with the "hes drake he doesnt need to promote bla bla bla" bs. Hes my favorite artist and i want to enjoy the rollout and album era, i want to have a whole experience and memories to connect with. Just look at the weeknd man... it could all be so simple.
I need this man to go all out with his next release like he did with scorpion, its the worse album but it feels better cause so much more happened and was done for it. That single run before scorpion drop s***s all over the whole CLB era.
rant over
that's crazy, but have you ever thought about this?

i was head over heels with this look, thinking to myself "holy s*** hes shooting the video for the first single and prepares the perfect rollout to drop late summer/early fall, maybe this is even for not around.". But NOTHING happened. He hyped up the oh so different from the leak version of not around just to put a corny beat switch and travis verse on it like its 2018. sxn regulars gonna read u can search for ur father in the meantime bozo
nigga u got 21 songs most of which are good. just enjoy the music
Drake wants to be known for music and that alone. comparing it to other artists who create Era's with less quality music is dumb.
Appreciate the sonics bro

Youd argue that the After Hours era is of less quality than the CLB era music wise?
agree with ya op
i don't think its 'all about the music' and just that
feels like the quietest / laziest drake era thus far - even the billboards prior to the release felt like they were building up to something better, but only built up to a batch of (mostly) mediocre verses lol
ionno, s*** doesn't feel like a moment in time at all

yup, thats exactly what i mean. The billboard idea seemed kinda good but something abt the execution just seemed off aswell. Nothing compared to the VIEWS billboards that had us speculating abt the release date while deciphering the numbers on the dice lmfao
The strange thing is that it happened so quick, llke a week before with no singles.
The days leading up to it didnt have that hype that Scorpion or Views had

Felt so rushed fr
He always does this. But I also feel like you're failing to consider that he dropped one of his greatest singles with LNCL and one of his dopest videos along with it during the summer of 2020 and just dipped afterwards, announced the album for january 2021 but abandoned that plan early into the year to make us wait till september when he just mysteriously announced CLBs release. Niggas aint used to letting the music do the talking (which it is)
Back to number this week
Yeah CLB is his least fav album alongside TML.
Didn’t he say since the album his life’s on a downward spiral

I've said it before in another thread that he's become very lazy, especially when it comes to pushing albums and songs/singles etc. The drive and urgency just isn't there anymore and we just gotta accept that, he's so big with no competition
yes he hates his own album 😞 so so so sad
all you ogs do is chat s***, u know exactly what i mean
Yet CLB is #1 on billboard this week again
makes my experience as a fan so much better right
shiiiiid I would to
