He crazy I’m a drake fan all the way but after hours s***s all over CLB music wise quality wise, cinematic wise, etc etc
After Hours was super meh to me
you are an idiot if you think the beat switch on not around is bad
Neither of our pasts 'bout to go away
You made me forget about it anyway
I always thought this.
He rushed the album clearly and couldn’t find his focus once the album leaked last year with Not Around also in 2019.
The second half of the album outside of F***ing Fans was just not good.
Yeah this era felt kinda just thrown together. That said, I love the album to death lol so I guess it don't matter? But it does not feel like a huge moment like his other projects
?
hes 100% right lol theres no correlation between how CLB is doing on the charts and how Drake feels about it
I don't actually think Drake "hates CLB" or whatever but idk what CLB's sales have to do w that discussion
He dropped one of his greatest singles with LNCL and one of his dopest videos along with it during the summer of 2020 and just dipped afterwards, announced the album for january 2021 but abandoned that plan early into the year to make us wait till september when he just mysteriously announced CLBs release. A week later the album was there and with the album he also dropped a music video to Way 2 Sexy which is arguably THE banger of this album. But thats it.
I remember back in october 2020 when this picture was posted to instagram by him
and viet made the following thread:
https://ktt2.com/drake-shooting-on-set-95155
i was head over heels with this look, thinking to myself "holy s*** hes shooting the video for the first single and prepares the perfect rollout to drop during the summer/early fall, maybe this is even for not around.". But NOTHING happened. He hyped up the oh so different from the leak version of not around just to put another beat switch on it. He took out the best part of sound 42/need me to add a boring jay z verse. But even though he made those mistakes, the album still came out amazing and has some of his best songs ever on there. Champagne poetry might be his best intro even tho that first beat is basically snatched from masego which annoys me cause it showcases once again how drake doesnt feel the need to get all too innovative with this s***. N 2 deep is also one of those masterpieces on CLB, might be top 3 drake. I could praise more than half of the album right now but i wont cause thats not the point of this thread.
He doesnt do s*** for these songs. I need him to get out there and talk abt this s***, tell us the stories behind these songs and your thought process. I want all the inside scoop abt the workflow during the CLB sessions. Give us lil clips from the studio, get on radio shows, get on yt shows, get on podcasts... and most of all RELEASE MUSIC VIDEOS!!!! LNCL was a MOMENT and the visuals are just insane, where was this energy for CLB deadass its confusing me so hard that im starting to get a headache while typing this up.
And for every super mega braindead stan: Dont even start with the "hes drake he doesnt need to promote bla bla bla" bs. Hes my favorite artist and i want to enjoy the rollout and album era, i want to have a whole experience and memories to connect with. Just look at the weeknd man... it could all be so simple.
I need this man to go all out with his next release like he did with scorpion, its the worse album but it feels better cause so much more happened and was done for it. That single run before scorpion drop s***s all over the whole CLB era.
rant over
I remember him dming people to take down that or the photo of him with the weird hair style, which was definitely for a video or something album related
Definitely not his cleanest rollout, overall disappointed in the entire OVO crew for letting the ball drop on this one
It doesn't seem like he's interested in cohesive bodies of work anymore. It honestly just feels like his albums are meant to check off boxes that his diverse fanbase would want. Some rap songs for the rap fans, rnb songs for the ones who like them, and so on.
He made hella bizarre decisions with this album that I cant understand even weeks later.
Why would he put Jay Z on a song that leaked last year?? Fair trade didn't need Travis either.
I already know someone is going to say these were creative decisions and we should just understand that but this is completely different man
out of curiosity why do you think scorpion had a better rollout?
personally i think CLB is the better album
CLB gotta be the better album, no question. But those singles (including their music videos) leading up to scorpions release were so goat. Will never forget when Lauryn Hills son previewed the first snippets for nice for what on f***ing snapchat lmfao, when that finally dropped as a single i was so hype. Moments like that, you know? He had an insane feature run going for him aswell at the time, everything just felt right.
you are an idiot if you think the beat switch on not around is bad
you right, i somehow confused the beat switch w the one on fair trade. Wasnt thinking straight as it seems cause those prob some of my most played songs from the album, edited that part now.
Drake has been moving quietly since the album dropped I think that’s definitely true. Not sure what’s going on but I like the album so I guess that’s good
OP defensive af for no reason lol
some people could just stay quiet but instead wanna come in here n s***post, its just annoying since id love to hear their actual opinion on my take itt. I been part of KTTs drake sxn for 6 years as an active poster and to see the same names defend drake no matter the cause by s***posting abt numbers or whatever just disappoints me. We have to be able to criticize him on this.
ur a weirdo and have no idea what drake feels.
Thread title is more of a stylistic device than an actual take on how this man feels
Probably already deep into some new s*** and in a different mood, lotta stuff coulda gone down between the delays
I liked CLB but I hope Kendrick and Cole put Drake on competitive mode again next year
cole already came out this year
he knows its a bad album thats why
I love the album but I think there's probably some truth in OPs rant lmao.
Between the leaks/covid/delays this definitely isn't the album he wanted to put out at first...everything dragged out so long that I really believe he just dropped it to get it over with and move on to his next project without a 3 year+ wait between albums hanging over his head.
Maybe my opinion changes if he does tour off of this but still idk. Timing just wasn't on his side for this one but album still fire imo
It doesn't seem like he's interested in cohesive bodies of work anymore. It honestly just feels like his albums are meant to check off boxes that his diverse fanbase would want. Some rap songs for the rap fans, rnb songs for the ones who like them, and so on.

He really isn't into making cohesive albums anymore and it's a shame. This playlist method of making albums is really hurting them. And yeah I completely agree with the bizarre decisions thing you said. I thought he made really bizarre decisions with Scorpion but CLB takes the cake with hella lot more it's so disappointing.
This the first album from him where I'd literally don't agree with 90% of the s*** he did on it and would change almost everything about the album. It's a very long list of things to change idk how this happened.
Drake has been moving quietly since the album dropped I think that’s definitely true. Not sure what’s going on but I like the album so I guess that’s good
NOCTA Tapes official release when
i can bet money that knife talk and 2sexy were last minute
imagine the album without lol
You guys are implying that there aren't some deep album cuts on here
There fasho are some deep album cuts on here that people will come back to.
I just cant imagine the same Drake from Light Up and Pound Cake using a Jay Z verse on a random song that leaked a year ago. It's mad to see how much he's on autopilot lately.
All that being said, CLB is probably better than every project he put out since Views and it might age better than Views but it feels more hollow since CLB is basically just a playlist of songs.
