People who say it ripped off TKOC have no idea what they’re talking about
It rips off YWNRH more than any Scorsese film
It isn't anything too original script wise (you already mentioned Taxi Driver & Kings Of Comedy) but it was a really good movie with Phoenix best role to date. He was truly mesmerizing to watch
9/10, its not a classic but its a really really good movie

You were never really here was a snoozefest imo... with Phoenix saving the movie
Groundbreaking how?
It took itself way too seriously, very boring. Joaquin was great but it ends there
The joker is one of the most important comic book movies ever released.
It proved that people don't give a s*** about staying true to the source material and "shared cinematic universes".joker is going to be reason DC will finally go back to not caring about connecting every movie.
Groundbreaking how?
Bro. The mcu had every cbm rights scared by thinking it's impossible nowadays to get a billion without a shared cinematic universe.

Thanks for the commercial accolades. How is the film groundbreaking though?
And "making a billion while not being in a shared universe" is a strange thing to taut as groundbreaking when Joker is not only yet another comic book property, but also one centered around one of the most popular and recognized comic book characters of all time. When the sensational headline coverage of the movie is factored in (i.e., free FOMO advertising), along with multiple memes, it's absurd to think that anyone ever doubted it would become a a smash hit in the first place.
everyone loved joker
but people loved it too much so other people hated it
so now people trash it for being overrated
that's life
Lol @ framing people who were "scared" that their comic book movie might not make a billion dollars being proven wrong as some kind of positive thing.
personally i loved joker. i loved the ambiguity of it.
and yes it was all in his mind. the whole movie is a dark twisted fantasy, only loosely based on his real life (i do think he may have killed his mother but thats probably it)
In about 5 years you'll realize it's a
"in the moment" piece actually
I'm not one to gas up the movie but that s*** IS better than taxi driver
yall had me thinking it was some esteemed pillar of cinema
Never will understand why this movie is so gassed
Forgot about the mcu cult for a minute
I hate those movies. Try again.
If you have an entire storyline dedicated to the girlfriend, but she doesnt add anything to the story, then it cant be a classic.
Script wad bad
If Joker showed the same quality as it did from the interview scene throughout the movie then it would have been a classic. 1st and 2nd act were quite mid
