As a 12 year old kid you’re from a neighborhood where you can’t leave and the opposite gang is gonna treat you like a gang member no matter what you do and the only way to have any sorta protection from getting beat up or shot at is joining the neighborhood gang what do you think most kids are gonna do? A lot of the time they’re gonna join the gang sure they have a choice but not much of a choice and even if they choose not to join the gang they can still get killed because of the gang it happens all the time, death by association and they have no control over that

Yes thats true but most gang members are conditioned from a young age to think that s*** is cool and they're only option. Im from Illinois, not from Chicago but got fam there, and most of the gangs are full of shorties now cause of that mindset. You right about it being about choices too though.
