Rapping is as much about moving the crowd as it is about lyrics
exactly very true
Pusha T:
Great album though.
Good hip hop is about beats lmao
Lyrical only s*** gets forgotten for a reason
Id say a good song is 70% about the beat. There are countless great songs with an amazing beat and trash lyrics as we have seen in the SoundCloud era but i can’t remember one good song with strong lyrics and a trash beat

Fair assessment and I agree fully. I’m not discarding lyrics like most of the guys quoting me are accusing, I’m just saying that it’s not the most important thing by any means. I should’ve worded what I said better but f*** it
Still no release date right? Just a month? So the last day of that month if you’re lucky
hip hop is the culture at large
there are 5 pillars
1. DJing
2. MCing (rapping)
3. Breakdancing
4. Graffiti
5. Knowledge
Rapping is just one of those pillars
This is outdated

tour starts the 15th so probably next week
Wayne is one of the only rappers ever to me who can get away with the style of just rapping over beats with basically no concepts or underlying themes to a song or an album. He gets away with it because his lyrics and flows are insane enough to keep me entertained - so even if he isn’t really saying anything, it still sounds incredible.
These new rappers being compared to him aren’t even close in that category. They aren’t very creative with the flows and the way they say words or make jokes in their lyrics. Go listen to something like Demolition Pt. 2 or Told Y’all and then report back on whether Lil Baby or Roddy have ever done anything like that.
last album was pretty good and definitely a good way to 'announce' himself as a legit force. But he needs to evolve on this one. U won't get away with just making collections of songs forever, needs to come at this with a proper sound and aesthetic distinct from that
Pusha T:
literally lmao. drops an album every couple years, calls it a classic right away and then it just comes and goes

Rapping is just one of those pillars
so you're saying rap exists within hip hop
This is outdated
not rlly tbh
like all 5 have modern forms. DJing is producing, Breakdancing is just dancing now, Graffiti was always just edgy graphic design, which now we have fashion for instead.
If this album is mid lyrically it’s over for rap
Rap in its essence is about lyrics, music or beats is secondary
Lmao of course it'll be mid lyrically
It ain't Kendrick Lamar.
It's gon be the same s***
Was you in a coma in 2020?
He was popular, didn’t shut anything down. That auto tune got played out and kinda annoying real quick
This is outdated
^These are the people saying lyrics matter more than the beat
tour starts the 15th so probably next week
If he still hasn’t given a date then the album is not coming next week brother.

You need to curb your expectations
