Growing up I always listened my music pretty much at full blast. Concerts-- wouldn't take earplugs with me. And this is at metal and rock concerts in small venues. You can imagine how loud that s*** would be.
Recently, I've been getting some tinnitus and minor eardrum pain. So I've been making an effort to listen to music at a lower level. But how am I supposed to get hype when that s*** isn't blasting my ears?
Have you guys had to "relearn" the way you had to listen to music? Goal is to have my average listening level to be 70-73 dbA.
Have you tried having some extended periods of total silence? That could be a good way to reset

Yeah, I think that's my plan for next week. No headphones on, just letting my ears rest (outside of work meetings and stuff). I'm hoping that "resets" my brain's tolerance level for noise.
get noise cancelling headphones. that definitely helped lowering my average volume to healthy levels
I have severe hyperacusis (sensitivity to noise), its to the point where i basically am not able to listen to any music anymore as well as do a heap of other stuff normal people can
If you’re getting tinnitus and eardrum pain you have to take care of yourself, take a long break from any loud noise exposure if you have to
Take it from me, s*** is absolute hell if you arent careful
Bruh it's so hard it feels like you can barely hear anything u have to focus extra hard so it makes you feel like your ears are tired, then you pull up the volume and your ears actually get tired it's a vicious cycle
crazy im going thru the same thing just went to the doc too
ive been using speakers on low volume for two weeks now and it is not the same at all
Eh I just leave it full volume now and have done for years
rip my ears but at least I get the best experience

@op try using bone-induction headphones
These are cool but it looks like people can hear what you're hearing even more so than open-back/over-ear. And their audio quality seems to be a bit meh
I'll consider the Shokz tho
After my ears messed up I just went straight to listening with speakers quietly, headphones cause too much damage, can't listen on commutes anymore which sucks, but you definitely adjust over time, I tried my friend's earphones for a sec because they had cool noise-cancellation stuff, and it felt WAY too loud and dangerous like I was putting insects in there, I promise you OP if you carry on listening at lower volumes you'll 100% get used to it

Yeah, I'm just very used to headphones and prefer them. Speakers are alright but I feel a lot more immersed in cans. If I need to listen with them at a very low volume I'll do it.
I might try a speaker setup at some point.

elaborate on the noise cancelling part
