because some of us are senior managers whose line stays open for the next 2 shifts of employees in case of emergency or to push through an ongoing project lol

most teams are engaged in massive group and sub group side chats, idk how you pulling that off on a dumb phone as the leader of said groups looking to you for answers or acknowledging they can proceed with work

bragging about that dumb phone s*** is ironically just dumb in a working man’s world especially as a leader

    I mean... it's hypothetical
If you actually got that million for me though then bet

Imma be calling people from the rotary housephone like
'yeah I'll be there at 8 o'clock on the dot

Yeah I'll set off about 30 minutes early to account for delays that would otherwise make me miss that time.

I'll be wearing a neon green jacket so you can spot me easier

I'll also tell the receptionist where to find me so you can ask them on arrival

I'll wait for 30 minutes & if you don't show up I'll wave down a cab because I can't use Uber

Oh yeah the holiday you're right

Can I also come over to yours on Thursday evening around 6:15PM (traffic permitting) to print out my itinerary & booking details?

Yeah the airline usually uses app based E Tickets but if I fill out the form online to check-in, they'll allow me to print my ticket at the airport '

Post brought me back to the 90s/early 00’s

    jive

It is called the light phone (pglang just did a collab)

Op if you really care about this s*** that much you would cop one of these. The way this nigga describes it sounds like a good life

i feel like the whole minimal phone thing is just a way to make sure no money is left behind and even those people who want to stop actively using a phone still spend money on something

like realistically there is nothing in the world thats stopping you from deleting all the apps or buying an older iphone just for calls photos and a messenger

maybe you cant do those massive groups.

but also damn I'd hate to be on call for work 24/7

I reckon I have people for emergencies but I'm unreachable after 4 or 5 by design and I'd prefer my employees be the same way.

Most companies don’t shutdown at 5pm and in fact run 24/7 and the higher up you want to go, the more responsibility you acquire such as getting calls from other shifts for support or to acknowledge a project your team started to proceed or to be in group chats with other senior managers discussing said teams and organization of the company/projects/timelines

luckily in my experience the higher up you go and more responsibility the more freedom I've had to go off the grid.

just set a clear expectation and lock in when it's time. been working so far. but yeah I get it and it's sad that people feel they need to work for stuff that really means nothing in the grand scheme 24/7

youre on ktt quite a bit for someone in a leadership role whose line has to stay open twenty four seven suggesting we should all grow up

maybe you shouldnt get into conversations involving people with normal jobs

that’s not how the world works the higher up you go as black man unfortunately. It might have led to less work for you, but it’s only further scrutiny for us. there is no “set it and forget it” reality for senior managers who are black when you are already a minor statistic in such a position. you better be available is the unspoken rule essentially lmao

It’s impossible to tap into KTT2 during downtime? Just because I’m on call doesn’t mean I don’t scroll the internet you think niggas just in their offices not watching reels/shorts or tiktoks in between tasks? I get on here before work, during my lunch, and after work since your tracking my movements so hard on this website

most of my posts are in the 4 hours I have before works since I wake up at 4am but you got it with the judgmental tone in your post. You niggas can’t just have a discussion without attacking who you talking to smdh, get off that beef brain d***head s***, it’s boring conversation and mad played out

    actually crying

  • realistically that million is gonna be burned quick. also you're probably gonna spend 1/5th of the million dollars on s*** that you're paying for just because you don't have the conveniences of a smart phone in the first place

tbh I don't think I would take it.

plus it would drastically limit your ability to meet random people in different countries which kind of changes the percentage of variability in your life that cool s*** can happen to you.
