"but what happens when a program has the same skill set as you? what’s your value?"
That's exactly why people don't want this s***.
so why don’t you go boycott self checkout at grocery markets while you’re at it
Imagine these AI artists become public stock options to invest in. Can make money off an AI artist based on their success like A&Rs do

ai music. very polarizing. probably strong generational divides.
ghostsingers/ghostrappers are a thing (by 2024)
we get a lot of new music from a lot of artists without the artists' involvement (or knowledge in a lot of cases). artists get screwed.
major polarization. a lot of artists/fans argue about what real music is, a.i. doesn't have a soul etc.
some artists initially embrace it. other artists pull their music from streaming platforms in protest (the ones who can anyway)
labels license music to tech companies to train ai's to generate music with, or develop their own in house ai. either way, streaming platforms develop their own without labels due to label demands and licensing agreements
lots of litigation
streaming platforms offer music generated on the fly and tailored to your exact tastes (and current mood etc).
the dsp market probably looks different than spotify vs apple music by this point. an ai-first platform that doesn't exist today could have spotify level marketshare in 3-5 years.
live human/ai hybrid acts become a thing. live music w/ real people also gets a boost. also small gatherings of people creating music together (with/without ai-assisted instruments/tools) idk.
gen alpha and a lot of casual listeners dgaf who/what made the music they're listening to
people can eventually create their own virtual artists, just choose a few options and tap a few buttons. the artists have their own recognizable style, a back story, an image, etc. some people get really into this, kinda like gaming, exploring and interacting with the generated artists' worlds.
there's a niche of people who almost exclusively listen to artists created and shared by others and arent really interested in human artists. the most popular ones monetize, make deals with streaming platforms, etc. s*** looks weird as hell.none of this is happening in a vacuum ofc — ai becomes the biggest political issue, especially since it's affecting middle class skilled and highly paid jobs previously thought safe from automation. the political and legislative responses are too unpredictable so anything could happen.
tldr,,, scary dystopian ai music future

between the tools that exist between like deepfakes + AI bootlegs are gonna flood the market
you can basically do (for example):
AI-generated lyrics w// like "generate in the style of kendrick lamar"
deepfake kendrick voice
ai-generated music, just make the prompt vaguely kendrick-related
throw those together and you basically bootleg an entire person's career
nvm ai generated lyrics got some work to do
AI is here. It’s not going away.
writing it off and not being open to its advantages is only gonna get your ass left behind
at the end of the day it’s another tool that’s going to advance the field
what was painting originally used for? to record historical moments exactly as they happened
then the camera was invented in the early 1800s and the profession of painting no longer relied on accurate photorealistic works of art
it was this invention of the camera that allowed artists to free their minds and truly dive into surrealism and abstraction with their paintings
AI will do the same for art, graphic design, music, ext. It will become a tool that will allow artists to experiment differently and advance their process
https://twitter.com/_erichu/status/1606826977473732608The only “artists” afraid of AI are those who’s skill set is more reliant on technical ability instead of creativity
Granted what is creativity other than mixing together other ideas with some polish? It's just lateral thinking with some shoe shine to me.
Pretty sure an AI could figure that out, they always call you crazy until you get proven wrong.
doesnt seem its publicly available, theyre selective with who they give the tech to. apparently Arca did somethign with them too
you can hear that and see the other projects on their site

Scary to think about
It’s not off base at all
those painters did not become the photographers. they kept painting. and the art of painting evolved because of the elimination of a task they had to do that we thought was necessary
you should do more research on AI. imagine what true producers will be able to do with these programs
The problem is if the AI becomes advanced enough then humans either won’t have to do anything or only have to do very little to create a song.
It’s different from skilled producers using different technological advancements in the music world to achieve the sound they want, because they still have to create it themselves. The more advanced this AI becomes, the less humans have to do

i think the real question is about the complexity of AI relative to human emotion. its impressive to generate something already, but there's still a gap currently between the quality or complexity of AI-generated art, text, or music vs actual artists. While I'm not saying it's impossible for it to get to that point, the subjectivity of art does make it hard to imagine how AI would be trained to do certain things (i.e. poetry) without simply directly plagiarizing someone. Ethically it does bring up the argument "well irl people are inspired by each other too, so wouldn't AI just be doing that?" but i think the question would end up being whether AI can generate something unique enough based on reference vs simply repeating out variations of its learning materials. Like art & music are currently impressive - to a degree - but if you look at the text from GPT i've put above on this page, it's terrible. It's great for formalized explanations/essays but if you ask it to do songwriting, poems, etc. it becomes obvious how stiff its generation abilities are.
Hope ai can give me head one day, the futures so exciting.
I’VE HAD A CONCEPT IN MY HEAD ABOUT AN AI WHERE YOU COULD REFERENCE SPECIFIC ALBUMS/SONGS TO MAKE MUSIC
EXAMPLE:
SOMEONE ENTES “MY BEAUTIFUL DARK TWISTED FANTASY MIXED WITH HOUSE OF BALLOONS WITH AN ECLECTIC SAMPLE”
AND THE AI SPITS OUT A BEAT THAT SOUNDS LIKE THAT
REMINDS ME OF IN THE COMPLEX ARTICLE COVERING KANYE RECORDING MBDTF IN HAWAII AND HE SAID HE HEARS BEATS IN HIS HEAD THAT SOUND LIKE 808s & HEARTBREAK MELODIES WITH MOBB DEEP DRUMS
WOULD BE SO HARD IF YOU COULD TYPE IN SOMETHING LIKE THAT INTO AN AI
Yes but what distinction do u make for “human” art
The tools people use now are like ai compared to earlier anyway
I guess u mean pure physical art?
No I still there even if ai helps humans there’s a distinct point where digital art or music crosses over from being entirely generated by the ai with little to no human input. If it no longer feels like the art is a reflection of the artist’s vision it no longer feels human. A text prompt isn’t enough input. Too much is automated away. None of the music in op feels human. While I would still consider Holly Herndon’s music that contains ai elements to be a reflection of her vision. I think effort matters too but it’s hard to know where to draw the line. Intention matters
But I do see what you mean. The line is blurred

Yeah & with the advancement of things it will be even harder to differentiate how much input the artist has
wasn't Jai Paul working on something like this a long time ago where like you could upload stems and it would auto-master/mix it and he used jasmine as proof of concept?
jAI paul
Won't tell what the j stands for I don't wanna be banned
Remember the conspiracies that dude didn't exist and was a way for labels to release music

Because of the advent of type beats this is going to be really easy to mimic
