Legendary artist, no doubt.
One of the best pens and minds in hip-hop history, yes.
Written some of the most iconic songs OAT, yes.
But there are tons more artists that fit that criteria and more, and no offence, at this point he's only on the list because of his untimely passing.
Drake and Kanye have done enough for hip-hop to take his place.
With that said:
Universal Top 5
1. Pac
Discography is decent, but he's larger than life at this point.
2. Nas
Seminal works and has continued to remain relevant and drop decent albums
3. Jay Z
I'll argue with anyone that most of his discography is mid but he's cemented himself in pop culture as a political powerhouse and his wife is Beyonce Plus, y'all like his music for some reason.
4. Eminem
Seminal works, still relevant, pen still sharp as hell although y'all hate his music for some reason
5. Kanye West
Some or the greatest rap records of all time, unparalleled influence on pop culture
HM: Drake, Missy Elliot, Wayne, Snoop
dude just take em off who gives a f*** about b rabbit
Man I said this not too long and some folks wanted to kill me for it lol
Because youre f***ing stupid
Just like who you like tbh.
hiphop top 5's are impossible to make
S*** so regional like you cant tell a nigga from a certain lifestyle that Boosie not top 10
You the only one actually calling him B.I.G. instead of Biggie
notorious to me :many
He's never been top 5 to me. Definitely top 10 but I don't see how you can make an actual argument that he's better than Jay, Pac, Kanye, Drake or Wayne.
And in what f***ing universe is Kanye top 5 rappers? The nigga who has 8000 peopld behind everything he does
lmao please. Big has more iconic songs than anybody not named Kanye or Dr. Dre. Best shooting percentage in music history. I'm starting to understand how the "old people on the lawn" expression began. These takes will only get more popular with time and I'm not ready for it
