I find it hard to compare The Wire to The Sopranos or BB because

1) BB is basically an homage to The Sopranos
2) The Wire is just purely character driven

what didn't you like about S5? i can understand the beginning being a little slow to others, but it flies by once the ball starts rolling

Because of BCS, I've noticed people want to put BB down now and see it as "pedestrian" or whatever because it has more action and is more appealing to casual audiences. Like they feel better than the average viewer for appreciating the cinematography and black and white scenes of BCS more than BB

Not saying it's happening ITT but I suspect this is a reason why people have been s***ting on BB over the past few years. If BB was all we had, I think some of those same people would still be talking about it like they were circa 2014
