Wale should’ve never signed to Rick Ross and grew out his hair. Should’ve kept doing the backpack, hipster rap thing
He would’ve just been over shadowed by Cole & Kendrick still
Him being on MMG made him unique on the label
He made the right choice but he didn’t execute it the best way in the long run
Kendrick Lamar is the worst hook writer of all time.
50 Cent is the greatest hook writer of all time.
Nate Dogg best hook writer of all time
Hozier's "Take Me To Church" is a great song in theory, but idk... there's something missing. I KNOW IT'S GREAT but I never want to listen to it.
heard this opinion a lot from producer friends
As a producer, this is a trash ass take
Wale should’ve never signed to Rick Ross and grew out his hair. Should’ve kept doing the backpack, hipster rap thing
he woulda ended up like charles hamilton or mickey factz if he stayed in that backpack lane. he did what was best for his career.
Alchemist beats are boring as hell and always have terrible drums
I’ve said this in every Alc/Griselda related thread but blame Eddie Sancho, his engineer for those flat sounding drums
I’m still not over how badly that guy botched the mixing on Wild Chapters by Conway
hip hop was influenced by european white music

my hottest take is prob that hip hop as a genre has a massive issue with songwriting quality. it's bizarre that for a genre that is so densely grounded in lyrics and writing that there's very few songs that can actually compete lyrically with what's generally considered the best songwriter music.
for the record i'm not saying that songs in rap are badly written or unemotional or anything, obv thats not true, but it's bizarre that for a genre which partially was influenced by literal poetry movements that the OG block party origins still bear a greater influence even in actual serious/moving/emotional music than the former
