On a real tip, as a former DD driver, the anus should be on Uber/DD to slide you more

It’s not like this society just started giving folks less than they would like on tips. It’s been a problem as long as space and time

i think you meant to say onus...

Bottom of the barrel people have no cars like you and op and rely on people to deliver their food to you

  • Apr 25, 2023

These apps are a scam for the consumer. The items on the menu are inflated, you gotta pay a service fee AND tip the driver (assuming you're not a piece of s***). Just drive and get the food yourself or use the restaurant's delivery service.

But if you want the convenience of having it delivered to you, you should pay the driver for that. That's not the restaurant or Uber Eats etc doing that for you, it's a (likely struggling financially) driver

  • Apr 25, 2023

Go pick your food up lazy ass

  • Apr 25, 2023

If these restaurants really cared though, they'd all give the drivers a cut of what consumers pay for the food. They're already profiting off food they sell to walk-in/call and collect customers, they're profiting even more off delivery app costumers for the same food. There's no extra effort from the restaurant, the only difference is the delivery. Drivers should be compensated for that

It works both ways. A sizeable percentage of people who live off of being a delivery driver do it because they want to make their own schedule and don’t have the discipline to conform to a 9-5 lifestyle and be told what to do and when to do it

As someone living in a third world country with a third of the working force unemployed, I look around and see tons of people on bikes delivering for these apps since they really took off during Covid. So it's people who don't have better options for employment resorting to these jobs out of desperation in my view, not because "they aren't disciplined enough to work a 9-5"

“ As someone living in a third world country” that should tell you enough about why our experiences are different when I’m living in America.

Also, who tf is ordering doordash in a “third world country”

I don't think that's true even for America. You have people on this forum talking about how it's good money on the side or how it held them down between jobs. Most people don't enjoy their 9-5s, but they force themselves through it. You think a big chunk of delivery drivers are people who walked away from those jobs because they weren't feeling it rather than people desperately relying on the delivery job for income/just using it as a side hustle?

Uber Eats is pretty big over here, we have another big app called Mr Delivery and grocery stores are adopting delivery services too since the market boomed during the pandemic. McDonalds, KFC and Burger King drive thru lines are regularly packed. Obesity rates in my country are 31% for men and 68% for women. Why would I have to lie about people eating fast food here?

I’m talking about a much wider demographic of people than a select few 20 something year olds on a Kanye west music forum. Those who you would find in the doordash subreddit for example.

If 68% of the women in your country are obese im curious what the country is because it doesn’t at all sound like a third world

Still doesn't sound right to me, but you and I have no way of proving our respective views so let's just agree to disagree And the country is South Africa
