I know half of KTT treats him as a meme and tbh he doesn't make the best music out there, but damn he's one of the realest rappers out there right now. First of all, he made songs that hit close to home, more than any other rappers I listened to so far, like...

Not to mention he took a bold route and created KOD. While musically the album turned out to be mid I appreciate he was brave enough to potentially jeopardize his image by going against d**** and the problems surrounding it (On the other hand most rappers as you know glorify it).

Another point worth mentioning was he decided to master 2014FHD in a way where the overall sound scape is fairly quite compared to other releases nowadays, makes for a better and more relaxing listen. Amazes me he's the first rapper ever to speak on this topic (He did in an NPR interview back in 2014), which made me realize how smart his decisions are.

Overall these are the reasons why he's one of the truest rappers out there currently. Over time I learned to appreciate his music more, where several years back I treated him as a meme and passed him off as some "boring" rapper.

Cole one of the few rappers in the mainstream that says something in his music. Respect. Neighbors>>>

I don’t think Cole really risked anything with KOD. His fanbase was already on those ideas

Cole is a good dude, I just don't care for his music. It's like that with a lot of musicians, he's just one of the handful that made it. I try not to hate on him too much.

Definitely. He's very relatable and down to earth which is why so many people rock with him. I am a harsh critic when it comes to his music but I do appreciate him a lot
