Not gonna say whether this is good or not yet its too early and I gotta sit with it.
But I can confidently say this is the most energized and awake heās been in DECADES
And this couldāve been a bit shorter.
Yeah itās gonna get replays from me which is more than I can say about most of his discog so Iām happy for now.
They wasnt outside when he was yelling how THESE HOES DONT MEAN S*** or THESE CARS DONT MEAN S*** bro
Whatchutola Ayy whatchutola
Idk this project doesnt seem as important as he made it out to be for me. Doesnt feel like a monumental release, which wouldnt have been a problem if he didnt hype it up for half a decade if not more
this
doesnāt really feel much different from his last few releases
had time to listen to the entire album on my drive into work
minus one song, disc 1 was really solid for me. was not expecting lonely at the top to be the song that i loved the most but that s*** had me spin it back 3 times straight
by the time i got to disc 2, based on what i read on here and on twitter, i absolutely expected to be disappointed by it. figured since i liked disc 1 so much, there had to be a drop off. but nope, disc 2 was waaaaay better imo. honestly couldāve done with a better intro for starters. inevitable still sounds fresh for me despite me almost over playing it. life sentence completely broke me. had me reflecting on my girl right now and all the things i had to do to get her. the ups and downs of our relationship. sheās a cole stan (like og cole stan, not that fake s***) so i know weāll share a bond over that record. man up above had me reflect on where im from, niggas deadass had shoot outs every west indian parade, him saying that was so relatable. i love her again.. man, phenomenal record. he mentioned something about getting older and listening to hip hop less and that s*** really hit me cause i feel like that has been happening to me without me consciously making that decision. what if was dope off the strength of what we saw 2 years ago & we can tell how that s*** affected him enough to make this pov type of track. quik stop & and the whole world is the ville had me reflect on who i was and where i was when i first got into coleās music and how iād always rush to his s*** whenever i was goin through something
overall, this is not a perfect album but this is the album i wanted from him. so glad he didnt try to chase or force hits on this. thats clearly not his lane anymore
The Let Out is a-fucking-mazing.

Separate releases def shouldāve been the way to go I think

Don't understand the hate for Life Sentence
if niggas hate that, they never been in love. simple as that
Don't understand the hate for Life Sentence
Same reasons they hated Foldin Clothes.
OK WE PODDING CAUSE WHY THIS ACTUALLY FIRE?
this s*** woulda been such a layup for him man, he did not need to double album into one this s***
First listen thoughts. Great double album could end up being my favorite from him just because of the amount of crazy tracks on here.
It does suffer from similar things as his past releases. Cole has needed a proper A&R team to help level certain tracks with interludes/skits and stop overdoing a theme. You think he's done exploring his relationship with Life Sentence and then he flips it on the very next track Only You. This could've been one track.
That 9-track run to start Disc 29/1 was the perfect balance of Cole's artistry, lyrical ability, singing, hitting themes, and blending features. It starts to slip on The Let Out and flattens until The Fall-Off Is Inevitable. Disc 39/2's strongest run was Man Above to Quick Stop. Also, I would've moved the Bonus Tracks to the end of Disc 39/2. Ending Disc 29/1 with the "Life being a film that cant be rewound" line would've been a landed better.
I can tell this one will grow on me though.
I hope I just came in with too high of expectations but...
I expected something explosive and potent but to me it felt sluggish and bloated. Not just because it's 24 tracks but each track is 5 minutes when they didn't need to be. He could've trimmed A TON of fat off. The beats are underwhelming and sonically it's not dynamic enough to warrant the run time
Also like conceptually I didn't catch anything that was super interesting. Couple tracks here and there but yeah. Damn. I really wanted him to deliver. Hope it grows
