Hate to say it like this, and I don’t think it’s his intent and I think Cole is mostly genuine, as much as a big musician can be. but I find his music and the presentation around it to be performative.

I listened twice. Idk, it just always falls short and doesn’t make me feel much but I do appreciate that his intention is to illicit thought provoking music. I think he’s genuinely seeking that out.
