I wish I could feel this but it’s so underwhelming to me even if it’s not a bad album..possibly the most I’ve ever been disappointed by a cole album
you are f***ing tweaking
Yeah, this is his best album. There's no need to even overthink it anymore.
Cole knocked this one out of the park.
i'm getting there tbh if not his best i think it'll end up being my favorite. this has a more immediate hold on me than even FHD did
I figured when you said you listen to albums in full every single time. Nobody sitting through this every time they run the album

nothing could ever disappoint me more than 4 your eyez only release night
has he said anything about the signifgance of the Disk names being 29 & 39
They’re of his perspectives at those ages. One where he returned to Fayetteville at 29 and the other at 39. He has some write up about it in OP

Really shows how strong of a concept it is lmao
I remember the Ye and Drake fans having the "who has more female fans" argument
When did people start saying girls listen to J Cole
I know I been hating for a few days but to sum up my thoughts in one post… It’s an ok album. The most souring aspect is the context of its release, he’s been planning this for years, I’m 100% sure he could’ve done WAYYY more than this artistically. Features, production, hooks, sequencing and all that.
He isn’t going out with a bang rn only cuz the 2 discs sound like he’s in his comfort zone. Homage after homage, almost no hook sounds original. From track 1 to 24 they all sound like a bunch of track 7s… And it’s crazy cuz that man used to know how to sequence his albums. I can’t single out a track as trash but it’s all so monotone and filler by Cole standards. Man hyped up the new reasonable doubt and dropped a mid big krit album. Even 4eva is a mighty long time sounds more like a legendary retirement album.
100% factual post
Obviously he’s rapping well on every track, That’s a given with Cole but the album has a severe lack of bangers and also lacks a good cohesive concept, Which makes it really hard for me to run back. Doesn’t help the s*** is 2 hours long
With all the great fiery raps he’s given us on his feature run, The Off Season and MDL it’s weird this album kinda lacks those. He just doesn’t sound hungry on a majority of the album. Also sucks none of the concepts or stories even come close to his best like the 4YEO title track
Really disappointed with the production as well. Definitely some cool beats here and there but man I was expecting him to have a symphony on this b****. A good majority of the beats and songs could’ve easily been on The Off Season or MDL. Like the first actual song on your big retirement album you’ve worked on for a decade shouldn’t sound like it fits on the throwaway mixtape you dropped 2 years ago

Cole always had a pretty sizeable college girl following. During Sideline story, and his second album, I’d always hear hoes in college’s say he’s one of if not their favorite rapper, despite them playing Future, or Drake more
Futures verse is short but really poignant. It’s how a lot of niggas cope with all the s*** going on.

Girls in college were listening to popular music like everyone else? Jermaine you dog!
The beat on Bunce Road Blues is trance inducing. It’s got me in a chokehold
It's so Zay coded. Reminds me of All Herb

My girlfriend listens to a lot of the same music as me syndrome

We just have similar music tastes and Cole is one of those artists we both enjoyed before we even met
