People be repeating that s*** like its not a cowardly take 😭😭

Nobody asked that nigga to be MLK he compared himself to him himself! Say something or just shut up 😂😂

I think it’s moreso why are u holding onto his words from 10+ years ago and not the s*** he said literally this decade ?

You guys treat his early s*** like the gospel and completely ignore everything he said barely 3 years ago

  • Get an actual graphic designer man this s*** is ass

I'm praying niggas know the difference between morals and morale

I mean the album is about trauma, celebrity worship, and infedility. Those all explore the right and wrongs of human character, i.e.: morals.

Nobody treating anything like gospel thats just fraudulent behavior is what it is.

He benefited from being seen as a voice of conscience, and now he distances himself from the responsibility that comes with it. He coulda just shut the f*** up nobody needed him he did it to himself.

When you get to mirror you'll realize he's unloading to uplift himself. It's got nothing to do with morals per se, the goal was never to sermonize anything

  • LouisAkbar

I think the broader question is who isn't morally imperfect? Expecting absolute moral consistency from anyone is kind of asinine unless we're discussing literal prophets or something.

no ones morally perfect but there are ways to show your imperfectness without it coming off as wanting a out of jail free card. Trae The Truth in Ibiza is a great example

I can't do edibles, my head is spinnin' too much
Fell off the pedestal and I'm never gettin' back up
Done tryna to be perfect, that s*** is exhausting
An infinite force that nitpicking niggas get lost in
I'm scribblin' thoughts, my pencil is sharpening
Trust in my pen, been tryna limit the crossing
The best part of makin' this cake is lickin' the frosting
And Barry be sayin' he love when I spit like I'm darkskin
And you know what he mean
I got a thirty-four waist, I had the forty jeans
Somehow I still got too big for my britches and tore the seams
    There go my Achilles heel
    Be tryna do everything
Thank God for my nigga Ib
What would I do with no team?
    I wouldn't do anything
I would just sit on this music and hold it
    Waiting for some perfect moment
    Wondering why it ain't came
    Meanwhile the world done changed
Suddenly songs I was loving last year don't feel the same
    Somebody feel my pain
    Please, somebody say I changed
All of these years done passed, I hope I ain't still the same
All of these songs I'm on, ain't nobody kill Jermaine
    Isn't that rather strange?
I wrote a number of bad refrains
    But isn't that life, dude?
Make a few hits but you gotta live with the strikes too
Instead of pretending like I'm some incredible nigga, just let 'em hear all of it
The good, the bad, the ugly, the strong, the weak, it's me
The nigga that thought of it
All the portrayals of anything different are fraudulent
You wanna tap into your greatness, well this is the starter kit
The Fall Off, how many these bullets can fit in the cartridges
I'm lettin' 'em off on intentions to rip through your cartilage
My nigga just told me, "You trippin' for thinkin' of callin' quits"

Nah that’s exactly what’s happening bc why are yall STILL saying “he wants to be MLK” when he made an entire album about how he doesn’t wanna be that person anymore

S*** on him for changing his stance I just don’t get why yall still throw those labels on him when he clearly said he’s NOT that guy anymore

honestly the difference between Ken and Cole has more to do with Kendrick's deeper level of musicianship. It's hard to explain, but even though Cole matches and even bests Kenny in certain technical elements as an MC (imo), Kenny has a certain way of expressing himself rather it be his word choice, phrasing, cadence, just certain choices he makes artistically that leaves a certain impact. As fellow creatives across various mediums... from the operatic singer to the olympic figure skater.. there's this 'interpretive wit' that we as artists express through music that really connects. Kendrick has that in away that Cole lacks imo..

Not to get into the Kendrick album debate in the cole album thread but the way he handle the savior thing is probably my biggest problem with that album and makes the messaging of that album fall flat for me.

The sentiment is still the same, he actively tried to shake that label and yall are just ignoring that for arguments sake lmao

  • as a huge Cole fan from FNL, if he came out with an album like mr morale where he goes back on everything he claimed he stood for on his past albums I would be so pissed lol

  • LouisAkbar

Ironically the same year Jay said "Do you fools listen to music or do you just skim through it?"

the rapper signed to a billionaire doing a trunk tour with a hometown beef/love album is a slant too
