  • Maybe J. Cole could do decent numbers for a few albums and somehow managed to build a fan base, but he was never even close to Drake in hindsight.

Had not even half the influence, Dreamville beyond irrelevant, OVO is pretty irrelevant but you can't deny the actual talent and diversity of a roster Drizzy Drake was able to assemble meanwhile Dreamville is just weed carrier group v. 234123. OVO had PND, DVSN, Roy Woods, Majid Jordan, etc. Artists with DISTINCT sounds and talents.

I mean you have to just look at how Drake ended his album NWTS in 2013 then look at how J. Cole ended his "best album" 2014 FHD

Good God Almighty—like back in the old days...
You know, years ago they had the A&R men to tell you what to play, how to play it and you know whether it's disco and rock but we just went in the studio and we did it. We had the champagne in the studio, of course—compliments of the company—and we just laid back and did it. So we hope you enjoy listening to this album half as much as we enjoyed playing it for you. Because we had a ball. Only real music is gonna last—all the other bullshit is here today and gone tomorrow...

    ^^^
The reason why NWTS is a true classic, just having on the back of the album like that

And then J Cole sticks this on the back of 2014 FHD:

Yeah nigga, Forest Hills Drive. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, that's it. We made it, baby! As we speak the last sample just cleared. Thank you to whoever in Japan, just cleared that s***. Turn my vocal up and turn the headphones down a little bit. I gotta do my thank you's man. I didn't have enough time to turn in my thank you's for the artwork, so f*** it. I'ma do it right now...

This is the credits. This is roll credits nigga, if you don't wanna sit through the credits get your ass up and walk out the movie theatre. First and foremost my entire Dreamville team, thank you, man. Before that I'm buggin, thank you, God! Oh my God. Everything happened too perfectly and in line—this whole thing.

Thank you, God. Thank my Dreamville family. Mez who f***in' asleep right now, that nigga ain't even recording this thing right now. Nigga's been working hard man, Mez I'm proud as f*** of you man, for real you killed this s***. Ib what up. El Presidente what up! We killed this s*** nigga, we killed this s*** nigga! I don't give a f*** if we sell 3 copies nigga, we killed this s*** nigga!

You see that? One reads like a true piece of artistry, a gentlemen showing his talent and skill, the other reads like some dude in high school who just finished making a mixtape in his closet

We know. Neither was Kendrick. And Cole was never even in the same league as Kendrick.

Goes to show how far the gap is between Drake and Cole.

The “big 3” was always a lie

Nah don't do this. We shouldn't have to do this. They are both in the upper echelon of rap.

  • Aug 2, 2020

Kendrick and Drake are a tier above Cole when it comes to the quality of the music

Obviously. J. Cole is in the same league as Kendrick, both below Drake.

  • Aug 2, 2020

    No one said he was

  • He was no better than the mumble rappers he criticized. Tragic but funny.

Kendrick has his own lane and trust he's up there with Drake. He's not worried about being in front of us 24/7 but, that's no knock on Drake. Drake's career benefits from his celebrity, Kendrick has a different way about his career
