none are doing better than party in terms of sales or streams
Okay but Dreamville is still doing better than OVO
We know. Neither was Kendrick. And Cole was never even in the same league as Kendrick.
Goes to show how far the gap is between Drake and Cole.
The “big 3” was always a lie
the real big 3 has always been Drake, Kendrick, Future. Cole was always just Kendrick lite
Maybe J. Cole could do decent numbers for a few albums and somehow managed to build a fan base, but he was never even close to Drake in hindsight.
Had not even half the influence, Dreamville beyond irrelevant, OVO is pretty irrelevant but you can't deny the actual talent and diversity of a roster Drizzy Drake was able to assemble meanwhile Dreamville is just weed carrier group v. 234123. OVO had PND, DVSN, Roy Woods, Majid Jordan, etc. Artists with DISTINCT sounds and talents.
I mean you have to just look at how Drake ended his album NWTS in 2013 then look at how J. Cole ended his "best album" 2014 FHD
Good God Almighty—like back in the old days...
You know, years ago they had the A&R men to tell you what to play, how to play it and you know whether it's disco and rock but we just went in the studio and we did it. We had the champagne in the studio, of course—compliments of the company—and we just laid back and did it. So we hope you enjoy listening to this album half as much as we enjoyed playing it for you. Because we had a ball. Only real music is gonna last—all the other bullshit is here today and gone tomorrow...
^^^
The reason why NWTS is a true classic, just having on the back of the album like that
And then J Cole sticks this on the back of 2014 FHD:
Yeah nigga, Forest Hills Drive. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, that's it. We made it, baby! As we speak the last sample just cleared. Thank you to whoever in Japan, just cleared that s***. Turn my vocal up and turn the headphones down a little bit. I gotta do my thank you's man. I didn't have enough time to turn in my thank you's for the artwork, so f*** it. I'ma do it right now...
This is the credits. This is roll credits nigga, if you don't wanna sit through the credits get your ass up and walk out the movie theatre. First and foremost my entire Dreamville team, thank you, man. Before that I'm buggin, thank you, God! Oh my God. Everything happened too perfectly and in line—this whole thing.
Thank you, God. Thank my Dreamville family. Mez who f***in' asleep right now, that nigga ain't even recording this thing right now. Nigga's been working hard man, Mez I'm proud as f*** of you man, for real you killed this s***. Ib what up. El Presidente what up! We killed this s*** nigga, we killed this s*** nigga! I don't give a f*** if we sell 3 copies nigga, we killed this s*** nigga!
You see that? One reads like a true piece of artistry, a gentlemen showing his talent and skill, the other reads like some dude in high school who just finished making a mixtape in his closet
J Cole has the voice tone of someone who feels like they are always talking some genius s***
Okay but Dreamville is still doing better than OVO
Not commercially or critically, lmao.
The truth of the matter is that there's never been a "big 3."
Drake was always in a league of his own in terms of success, dominance and influence.
Kendrick and Cole were always beneath him in that regard.
We know. Neither was Kendrick. And Cole was never even in the same league as Kendrick.
Goes to show how far the gap is between Drake and Cole.
The “big 3” was always a lie
Kendrick and Drake are both GOAT. I always saw Cole as hitting that spot for people that thought they were too “cool” or “hard” for Drake or thought Kendrick was too “wordy” or “weird”
Not commercially or critically, lmao.
Bruh I’m way too tired to pull up each set of numbers from each artist from both rosters.
If you wanna believe that all them OVO niggas besides PND (who also isn’t hitting like he used to) are more relevant than Dreamville then you keep being a Drake stan pretending that he’s actually a successful entrepreneur

Are you implying that Drake is better than Kendrick?
Are you implying that Drake is better than Kendrick?
he is but that wasn't what I was implying
just that the level of stardom between the 3 was never really comparable or close
Cole was in the big 3
He just fizzled out the fastest
J cole He was basically Bleach
Drake - Naruto
And Kendrick was One Piece
Iykyk
damn, this might be the most accurate comparison I've ever seen
you realize half the content is actually just quoted lyrics from a J Cole album right
you didn’t need an essay to state the obvious
the essay in OP is J. Cole's essay
maybe your brain hasn't fully developed skimming abilities yet

doesn’t matter who’s essay it is,
you still posted one to make your point
unnecessary

J Cole lyrics read like an essay to you
no wonder J Cole sucks
I would say that J Cole and Drake weren’t as far apart in the beginning of their careers as you’d believe. Drake was always bigger but it wasn’t a blowout by any margin. These days that’s a different story but Drake is one of the biggest hip hop acts of all time so that’s not a knock on Cole
Explain?
Cole has been pure rap for 99%of his career
Same with Kendrick
Too bad they don’t try to sell to teenage girls
The fact that yall try to correlate drake not making pure rap music to making music for teenage girls is beyond me
You know adults listen to R&b and pop right?

Calls a man with a 150m net worth not a successful entrepreneur
Might be the most ironic post I’ve seen in a minute

Huh? Drake did 447K with his debut album that dropped in 2010. Cole didn't cross the 400K mark until 2016 with 4YEO.
Drake took Cole on an arena tour in 2012. Cole didn't book an arena tour for himself until 2017.
Drake was scoring top 10 hits like crazy from 2009, starting with Best I Ever Had. Cole didn't score his first top 10 hit until 2017.
Cole has done at least 400K in a week once. Drake has done it 7 times.
It's not close.
Drake was always bigger than Cole and it's never ever been close.

You must be confused. Drake is at least 3 times richer than Cole. OVO are richer than Dreamville acts. They've gone on bigger tours. They're more successful commercially (even though it's not exactly a big gap).
You can't pull up any numbers because OVO artists beat Dreamville artists in the numbers game, no discussion.

My argument wasn’t saying they were neck and neck but back in 2010-2011 before we had the gift of hindsight when their debuts dropped I don’t think it was out of the realm to say that they were the two of the hottest new acts buzzing. I don’t recall anyone saying the gap was astronomical back then between the two. You’re right though there was a clear metric difference between them but over 200k for a first week isn’t bad either imo
The fact that yall try to correlate drake not making pure rap music to making music for teenage girls is beyond me
You know adults listen to R&b and pop right?
I didn’t say Drake didn’t make pure rap
I said Cole has been 99% pure rap
Drake has pandered with his music for sales
That’s facts
