Travis and Kanye for instance basically use their collaborators as instruments. Also furthering the idea of having no features as a flex and an ego thing is a) toxic af and b) bad for music.
I know but Cole himself condemned his own fans for making that a meme. Cole also condemned blindly d***riding the charts/sales and critics/journalists.
And features do kinda matter because of stimulus packages and helping songs chart. Wale, for example, barely charts at all without collabing with bigger stars like that last song he did with Jeremih back in 2019. Meanwhile, Middle Child in the same year had no feat and went 6X Platinum with no help. That's basically what I mean.
